Question about Emerson Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

The microwave appears to work, because when I put a time in everything works on the panel, but the glass plate is not turning at all.

One of my glass top plates doesn't work, it goes red and then turns off. How can I fix it?

I have no idea what you're talking about. Glass top plates? In a microwave oven? All I know is the glass turntable tray. And if it's not turning around, you either have that feature turned off (a dedicated button on the control panel), or else the turntable motor is bad.

Food won't heat up

Hello, I had the same problem, and just fixed mine. Start by turning on your microwave (on mine, the light turned on and timer worked, but the fan nor the plate turned)... push the door upward and see if the microwave turns on... (mine did). so far so good. open the door and take the upper hinge cap off with flat head screwdrive. take the door off and place a small washer on the bottom hinge, put the door back on. your microwave should be good now. essentially, the door just needs to be pushed up a bit so it will work.
good luck, hope that works for you...

PLMVZ169HCA Turntable slips on the glass plate

hmmm? me's thinking about this one!!!!
the glass plate has drive dogs on the bottom of it, that fit into drive dogs on the turn table, if its not meshed up right it just spins freely and normaly throw's the glass plat off??? are the bearing that are under the glass plate turning freely? thats the big ring that the plate rides on near the out side edge of the plate, and can be taken out for cleaning??? it looks like a hoop with 3 or 4 rollers in it??? if you forgot to put this bit back in the right way up after cleaning it thats the problem???

Tin foil or steel plates in a microwave will burn it out. I suspect it is or has burnt out. Never put anything steel in a microwave.

GE Spacemaker - microwave works but the inside plate doesn't spin

you have a bad turntable motor or a bad control board.. start with the motor 9 time out of 10 this is your problem.. you can pick up this part at your local parts house or order online.. look for universal part. this will be alot cheaper then the oem.. just take the screws out of bottom panel under microwave. panel will drop down. you will see little round motor about 2in' make sure unit is unplugged.

Microwave plate doesn't fit on cog?!

I know this is probably DUMB of me to say, But some with this type of turntable arrangement, The ring would only set one way. The ring did not turn, but rather the wheels faced up and rolled with, and supported the turntable.

Jenn-Air Microwave turntable not working, microwave works

It's probably a cracked coupler or a weak, slipping motor.

Jenn-Air Microwave turntable not working, microwave works

Not exactly a solution - but info that will help -- had the exact same problem, same model etc. I had two servicing companies come out and look at it. One was the local Jenn-Air dealer techs, the other was an independent repairman. The shaft/coupler thing needs replacing. Guess what? The part is not made anymore!!!! My 2 different techs tried everyone under the sun and I spent a day on the internet and telephone and I'm sorry to inform you that part isn't out there -- even through the company (I forget the name now) that carries out-of-stock parts has everything under the sun, they didn't have this. I am furious with Jenn-Air -- I purchased this oven/micro for almost $3,000 in 2003 and the turntable stopped in 2008. Five years and they don't make the part and have none in stock. Maytag is a cheap poorly-run company. Whirlpool bought them out in 2007 and I have checked -- they don't have the part either. Time to look at those dopey nordicware self-winding turntables. Sorry -- only solution is to land a used model. Now you know.
