The thermistor could be bad or one of the limits on the side of the heater chamber.

I have a Kenmore/whirlpool dryer without heat. I checked the thermal cut of and high limit thermo and they are good. The instructions say to test the thermistor i need to check the resistance on the

It's always possible that you heating element itself is OPEN? Use an ohmeter and measure for a VERY LOW resistance across the coils after you've unplugged and gotten into it far enough to do that. Be sure and remove the terminals that go TO the heating element so you won't get a false reading. THEN, I'd go to Repairclinic.com and put in your model number and look for this "thermistor" It's probably listed and if you look close enough, it may tell you where it's located. Nice to know a few folks try to repair before tossing.

Hello tarkington, here is a parts diagram to start with. To replace the heating element, all you really need to do is take out the old one, and hook up the new one. It's that easy. Here is a video to help you with disassembly if needed.

And finally a video of a heater element being replaced. It's not exact to your model, but it might help.

It means your element needs to be replaced, take it to the Kenmore parts store nearest you, and they will confirm that, and you can get a new one there unless they have to order one in.
Be sure to have the make and model and serial number of your dryer with you.

Kenmore elite , no heat

Check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Kenmore elite dryer no heat

You may want to check if the heating element needs replacing. Most Dryers have 2 heating elements that are found by taking the back off, some of the newer dryers have 3.
