I need more information. Smoothtop? Gas? Electric? Stainless steel? Smoothtop, scrape what you can off with a plastic credit card or something similar. If necessary use a razor blade. Finish cleaning with a liquit polishing top cleaner made for smooth top ranges. Regular use will leave a smooth finish that will make it easier to clean. Us only a plastic pad or other non abrasives. Regular porcelain top. clean up as best you can with a dish rag. scrape with a plastic tool. Use oven cleaner if necessary. Don't get oven cleaner on painted or aluminum items. It will remove numbers, writing etc and badly stain aluminum.

What are you using to clean the stove? Only cleaners made for ceran type tops should be used according to directions. Do not use enamel coated pans or glass pans on your cooktop. If you have a boil over, turn off the burner and change to a different burner immediately. Clean up the spill completely before cooking on that burner again. Use a flat edge razor to clean tough residue. Your cooktop will look new for years to come, even with heavy use.

As far as the scratch, don't use abrasive cleaners on the top and only use pots and pans with flat bottoms. If you do use cast iron pans, never scoot them around on the top.

Liquid spilled into the cooktop (gas with electrice ignition) and now the igniter doesn't work.

If it was clear liquid, after a day or so your cooktop igniters should start working again. If it was a gooey spill you may need to gently clean them. They will not work until they are very dry.

There is a bad odor blowing out from under my Whirlpool side-by-side refigerator. How do I fix it?

Hi

Odors in the refrigerator can come from many different sources. Spoiling food, spilled milk, open food. Often a really good cleaning out with an ammonia cleaner can help or with a baking soda water mixture.
But, sometimes an odor can "permeate" into one of the plastic parts found inside the fridge, crisper pans, door liners, shelf supports. Even after you have found the spoiling food, removed it, cleaned the fridge up.....sometimes another plastic part will pick up this odor and continue to give the odor back off. A few things that can help with this type of an odor, place one these inside the fridge section:
- box of baking soda
- dish of coffee grounds
- open slices of bread
The bread trick can be used to effectively to remove odors. Just throw a slice or two onto one of the shelves in the fresh food compartment, leave the bread slice(s) in there for 12-24 hours -no longer- and then throw the bread out or I throw the bread outside for the birds to eat. When bread goes stall, it will **** in odors very well. Because the air inside the refrigerator is blown between both sections, this will help the fridge and freezer sections. Do this for about a week and you should notice a big change in the odor problem :-)
A really bad odor problem. Sometimes something like milk or juice is spilled inside the fridge. The liquid can run under the plastic edge breakers and get into the insulation. This can be very difficult to clean and may require a service call to have the old insulation removed and replaced with new insulation in that section.

Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

I have a gas cooktop model AKS3640SS. There is spark and gas, but one burner is much slower to light than the other four. Burner is clean and firing like others; any idea on why and possible...

When it finally lights is there a big poof from a lot of gas? Is the spark on this burner as loud and bright as the others? Is it positioned where it is supposed to be? If not replace the igniter. You can test this out by robbing one of the other igniters and trying it in the problem burners spot.

Also you could pull that burner off the manifold where the burner tube slips over the gas outlet and check for any obstruction, like spilled and dried food, spider web in the oriface. If you get a big poof when it lights this is probably not the problem.

Delf-cleaning oven (Frigidaire) caught fire while cleaning. Any recalls on this problem? Stove was purchased about one and a half years ago.

yorkbill,
Wecome to fixya,
Huuum at your service.

You said, your self-cleaning oven (Frigidaire) caught fire while cleaning.
Any recalls on this problem? Stove was purchased about one and a half years ago.

Please give me the model number so I may check for recalls!

If you attempted to clean the oven with drippings or heavy food on the bottom of the oven from spills,
then you can have a small fire in the oven .
But it will burn out.
The user guides all tell the reader that if you drip or spill food in the oven to first, "wipe out loose soil to reduce smoke and avoid damage!"
