Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

My ice maker just started leaking from the rear and front. It's a GE Model TFX25JP. Before this, I have been having to lift the lever to stop ice production because it wasn't stopping production it on its own. I lifted the lever like I usually do and shortly thereafter it started leaking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I unhooked the ice maker (except for the electrical) to look at it more closely and looked for leaks but didn't find any. When I put it back and turned the water back on, it didn't leak, but it's not working. There's some frozen water in the mold body. So, it's basically disabled.

Do you have any idea how much a new one would cost if they still make it? Is it easy to install? The electrical looks like the only hard part, which I'm not sure how to do.

Check the water supply tube from refrigerator to ice-maker,That tube connects to the water valve.the water valve is at the back of ice maker. And from the water valve the water tube goes in ice dispenser chamber. If this valve is got stuck open or got faulty then it will leak water.Because the valve gives water to stop and start command. If the valve gets faulty,it will not let the water to stop and this is leaking water. The other possibility is water tube,The water tube is got loose or got kinked and cracked in between and causing the leak.Get this tube checked. If its leaking the tube has to be replaced. If the valve is faulty,it has to be replaced. Also check the ice maker lever, which you pushed. If that is cracked and that is causing the water in the dispenser to leak, before forming ice.Get this lever part properly inspected. If its cracked it has to be replaced. --------------------- To get the ice-maker disassembly diagrams, please click on the link below:--- ------------- In the link .The part number 850 Cover icemaker 851 Gear 853 Mounting plate 854 Beam spring 855 Motor icemaker 856 Spacer 857 Switch 858 Cam 859 Spring 860 Arm 861 Insulator 863 Arm lever 864 Housing 865 Mini manual wiring 866 Ejector 867 Fill cup (be 868 Mold body 869 Thermostat 870 Wire harness 871 Thermostat holder 872 Sleeve 873 Feeler arm 874 Thermal cut-off 875 Spring-feeler arm 875 Screw 8-18 ab hxw 3/8 ------------------ This will help.Thanks.Helpmech

I have a GE Refrigerator that the ice maker keeps getting frozen up, I have changed the ice maker and the water valve out and it has started doing it again good for a couple weeks maybe???

check the ice chute door, where the ice comes out of the door, sometimes the door doesn't close or it's broke, warm air gets up into the freezer and will start icing up everything the air hits,or the door gasket has a tear in it but if it's not water leaking from the ice maker then it's an air leak causing this issue.

Is the refrigerator and the ice maker level? Does it appear that the ice maker is over filling or slowly overflowing due to a leak in the Click here=> W10408179 Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve? Look in the rear of the ice maker where the water fill tube enters the ice maker do you see water freezing and running down to the ice bin from there? Let me know.

I have a GE Profile side by side fridge and need help with my icemaker. It's making great ice but seems to have to much water. Is there some way to adjust the time on for the water fill valve?

Your model has the electronic control behind the front cover and not very serviceable. The part number providing your refrigerator is the PSW26P model the ice maker part number would be WR30X10093 for that Model. You may also take into consideration that it is also a possible bad water valve on the rear leaking after shut off. That would show up as water running over the sides and the freezing and possibly freezing the fill tube in the back of the ice maker causing water to go everywhere. But most likely it is the control board inside the front of your ice maker. Thanks Sea Breeze

How do i turn off the ice maker on a ge profile. thereis a bad leak from the hose in the back. can i just turn off the ice maker to stop the water flow?

You can lift the lever in the ice hopper to turn off the unit, or simply unplug the electrical connection to the ice maker inside the fridge. If your leak is in the line between the house supply line and the valve on the icemaker, turning it off will not solve your troubles. If that is the case, you can turn off the supply line valve.

Ice Maker Won't Stop Making Ice

There is an adjustment for the "harvest" bar (The bar you lifted up). That bar you are lifting up tells the ice-maker that the cubes have fallen into the ice storage and starts the ice-making cycle over. It is also the Limit switch for the ice level in the storage container ... if it stays up for preset time determined by the manufacturer it stops making ice... most all ice-machines use the same devices. they vary little in design. Sometimes you can just gently bend the bar down to the point where it turns-off the machine at the level you want ... unless you can get to the adjustment hinge you can adust it there. For the fact it goes off when you lift it all the way up tells me the harvest switch is turning the ice-maker off.

Water leaking out of freezer door water dispenser

The fill valve that supplies the water may not be shutting off completely. Also check to see that the lever is closing completely.
