I've had this problem (No disc) with my VR2940 and was preparing to open it up and find and clean the lens that detects the disc. This was suggested as a solution. However, I used a can of compressed air (enviro-duster) and sprayed air in the drive slot (back and forth since I don't know where the lens is located). No problem since, but I keep a can handy. Norm
First, you need to have the cable directly input into the recorder.
If you only plug the cable box into the machine, you get what is happening now.
After splitting the cable, one side into te box and the other into the recorder, run the channel seek part of the program and it will scan all the channels available on the cable and place them in memory.
Then plug the output of the cable box into the other input on the recorder, and you get yor pay channels and upper tiers.
