Question about Nikon Coolpix 4300 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Hi My coolpix 4300 will no longer accept its memory cards. My camera shop man had a look and tried to re-format the cards but when you scroll down on Set-up it won't stop at CF card format. He asked me to look at instructions in case he had got it wrong but I can't get it to do it either. Any thoughts or is it worn out? Many thanks Christine Williams

Did your camera shop man take a look inside your camera's CF card slot? I suspect that you may have a bent pin in there. If so, don't fret. Although professional repair would be more costly than the value of the camera, there is a very good chance that you can repair this yourself. Please see this link.

Make sure the SD card is not set to protect with the small slide switch on the side of the card, then try formatting the SD card NOT the internal memory.

My coolpix 1600 will no longer accept a memory card. The card does not stay down.

How long ago did you purchase the camera? If it physically won't stay down then I would try a different card. If you can isolate the problem being with the camera. Then somehow either damage to the slot was done or it is defective. Depending on what you choose repair or most likely replacement would be your best option. If you have any questions let me know.
Thank you,

I have a 256MB compactflash memory card for the coolpix 4300 that was bought over 7 years ago. I went to Radio Shack and Walmart looking for another. The salesperson told me that the SandDisk 8GB...

According your camera specs listed on dpreview.com:
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Nikon/nikon_cp4300.asp

your camera must support the FAT 32 file format in order to use a compact flash card that exceeds 2.2 Gb. I question whether a camera 7 years old supports an 8Mb card, but I haven't found any specific upper limit listed online anywhere.

I have just inserted a new memory card and it says out of memory

New memory cards must be formatted in the camera first to work properly. Also, you must erase (format) the internal memory.

I can no longer transfer photos from my Coolpix 4300 to the computer. Is it a camera or lead fault pls?

Problem could be either a lead or might be within the camera. Remove your memory card and insert it in the card reader on your computer. If it reads okay and transfers the photos then take a few more photos and try again using the camera connected to the compter. If it fails again try a new connecting cord. Good luck.

I dropped my Nikon Coolpix 4300. The camera will

Hi,

This is a common error. You can only try to Format the Card. Once format, i believe this would fix the issue.

Also, try to use Camera without Card.

Unless, You need to send it for repair.

Note - Make sure batteries are all set.

Thanks.

Nikon 4300 CF Card Erro

The Nikon Coolpix 4300 only supports the FAT16 filesystem, so it can only support a 2GB partition. To support 4GB you need a FAT32 filesystem.
Put the card in a CF writer and attached to a PC or Mac. Partition 2x2GB partitions, then format them as FAT16. Now put it into the Coolpix 4300 and it should work.

Card cannot be used

This means that the card memory can not be read, make sure the contacts are, clean. use pressurized air cans available from most places like, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Staples, etc.

lightly blow out the memory card and the camera slot, check pin alignment, Format the memory card on your computer first and re-insert in camera. Use another card to see if error continues.
