Question about HP iQ775 19" TouchSmart Desktop PC

1 Answer

Hi I have an IQ775 HP all-in-one that won't start. It has power, the blue power light is on, the DVD responds to pressing the eject (i can hear it) as does the touch screen (faint beep as you touch it). But the screen stays black, no BIOS logo, etc. I have tried the BIOS reset by removing the power and holding the button down, no change. I have also opened the case and reseated the memory, also no change. I am happy to pay to have it fixed but after 2 hours online with HP (over 2 days) and 3 phone calls, the are saying it's obsolete so bad luck! They gave me a list of "partners" but frankly the yellow pages would have been more useful.... Given it is all-in-one, I really don't want to trash it - do you have any advice?

Thanks for the advice. I read similar issues were the result of the power supply and have bought a referbished unit. Now I'm living the drama of trying to work out how to get the old one out and new(er) one in. If I didn't know better I'd say it been glued in!

Thanks, I found a blog on the HP touchscreen forum, that pointed out the power supply slides onto the base os the machine. It is a bugger to get it back off again - I eventually used a screwdriver from underneath the machine to lever it back. I had to all but dissassemble the whole thing to get to the power plugs - they are wedged in under the front of the machine. After replacing the power supply, I found I still had my original problem, so it's trash time. Any clue if there is somewhere that would want this for parts???

This pc is practically an stationary laptop - it uses laptop components. Unless you posses another AMD/nVidia laptop you can't even check the components. You can see that yourself here

Because of that your only 2 options are to send it to your local laptop repair shop or just junk it and buy something else.

They use, besides the screws, some pop-in plastic points: find them and crimp them to lift the board.

Laptop repair shops probably, the memory and the processor are still functional and worth something.

How do I solve a problem with starting up windows in my hp pavilion g6? Whenever I start windows a blue screen appears and the computer restarts.

Sounds like your hard drive has either failed, come disconnected, or someone performed a full format of the drive which wiped out the partitions or the boot sector of the drive. Worst case you will need to replace drive and purchase reinstall disk from hp. Best case you will only need to purchase reinstall disk from hp. If you do need a new drive, I recommend purchasing it from hp directly, as it will already be prepared with hps proprietary boot configuration files which must be present for hardware to be recognized by system bios.

Memory problem. A page fault occurs when you don't have enough memory so it writes a page fault to disk. It could be bad RAM or driver could need an update.

I inserted a cd in to the Studio One 1909 and now it won't come out. When I shut down the computer and re start, the eject light comes on the front of the screen and you can hear the disc turning but...

Hi,

Try to check if you have a small hole on the optical drive (cd / dvd drive). If you see a small hole, use a paper clip to manually eject the disc. Reloading the BIOS default settings of your computer can also help.

Hope this can solve your concern.

Disk won't eject Error message: System error is detected System error is detected BE file:\Dvdv_util.c, line:264 Sensecode( 3: 2: 0), Detail:0x0

Hello

When operating, errors happen. Turn off the device.

(To turn off, press and hold the power button on the front
of the device for 10 seconds.)

After turning off, press the Open button and remove the
disc from the device
If needed reset the device to its factory settings after the disc is ejected. To reset it to factory settings:

Press the [UP] and [DOWN] buttons on

your DVD recorder simultaneously

when the power is on. All settings

including the password will revert to

the factory settings. Do not use this

unless absolutely necessary.

(Note that this function is possible only
when no disc is inserted.)
ok.

My daughter put the blue ray DVD into the Toshiba 14DLV75 instead of the regular DVD and now it won't eject it. It just keeps spinning like it wants to eject, but won't. How can I get it out?

Hello
Just switch OFF the set by its front panel power control switch, and then switch it On and press the eject button without any delay. Sometimes the tray will eject, and try to close. If so switch OFF the front panel power switch, while it is out, and take away the blu-ray disc. the switch it On. All will be ok then.

Hi Barb22,

Sounds faulty to me, I'd take it back to the store and get a replacement. However, I guess you want that DVD out first? I'm not sure this will work because the units logic board is mostly likely faulty and will prevent the DVD transport from opening. Unplug the unit and press the eject button, keeping it pressed plug the unit back in. If the unit does not come on then press the power button too. If the unit starts to open release the button immediately. It's unlikely to eject, but you might get lucky.

Sorry I can't be of much further help.

Regards,

Dvd eject button does not respond

Had a similar problem after loading a suspect dvd (one I had buned myself) Could not do anything - stuck at loading.
Try this :
  1. Unplug and wait 10 seconds
  2. plug it back in and wait 1 minute. DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS!
  3. With the machine still in the standby state, press eject on the REMOTE. It should eject without trying to read the disk.

Good luck. It worked for me.
