Question about M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R 8 x 8 USB 2.0 MIDI Interface for Digital Recording
Make sure all other background programs such as anti-virus and anti_spyware, etc are ALL TURNED OFF. At high data rates you don't have processing power to waste servicing these resource hogs. ALSO turn off wireless links.
NEXT: Search for sources of electrical noise. Make sure you use balanaced lines for all audio connections where possible. Make sure ALL and I do mean ALL interconnected equipment is powered from the same receptacle or source. Ground noise can be a problem.
A final thing would be to kill ALL electrical except for the recording system to verify there is not electrical noise being created by a local source in your facility... could be a heater cycling on and off for instance... A thermostat sometimes has contact bounce before it fianlly makes or breaks.
