Question about Krups XP4030 Espresso Machine

Open Question

Hi, My Krups xp4020 has developed a problem with the pump that I can't seem to identify. The unit turns on fine and heats up correctly. However, when operating for either hot water or steam the pump will run for about 5 seconds then cut out. It will then intermittently cut in for a fraction of a second. I've gone to the extent of disconnecting the pump output from the heating element and running the machine but the same problem occurs. My electronics knowledge isn't great but there doesn't appear to be any visible damage to any of the components. Any thoughts anybody?

What position do you have the knob in? According to your manul it should be in position 9 not in position 8 for steaming.Good Luck.

SOURCE: My Krups XP4050 frother heats and makes bubbles but no froth

It doesn't froth because the air hole in the frother has become plugged with dried milk (cream). There are two types of frother - old one was a black rubber nipple with a stainless 2-3inch air tube rising above the milk. The plastic insert has a pin hole (really about the size of a straight pin!) that clogs. Use a sewing needle or straight pin to clear it.

The coffee holder is just hanging in place, not secure against the seal as it should be. Make sure the coffee holder is secured flat up against the seal before turning the handle and locking it into place.

SOURCE: krups km7005 water not heating nor hot plate

Mine had the same problem ... all the lights are on, but no heating on the plate, and no dripping of water.

After a weekend on the workbech, I've mastered this machine. The KM7005 has 2 x MicroTemp G4 thermal cutoff (TCO) fuses which interrupt the Live line, for overheat protection. Mine didn't overheat per se, but the TCO blew anyway. Not reset-able ... need to be replaced with a soldering iron. I'll be happy to advise you to fix this, or fix it for you. Write me at KM7005@flightsystems.biz.

When Krups ea8250 turns on says heating then unplug sign

It seems like it must be detecting an error of some sort. Maybe the boiler is not heating, maybe the pump is not pumping, only testing will reveal the cause.

Janitrol Heat Pump

Jenny,

Sounds to be a system freon leak. The unit and the stat talk to each other and if the temp is not reached and the unit shut down in a set amount of time it turns on the E-heat. Now there are other facts that could be involved, plugged filters, dirty coils inside and out, etc. Check your filters first to eliminate that problem.
