Question about Whirlpool DU840CWD Dishwasher

1 Answer

DU840 Whilpool dishwasher is making a screeching sound off and on throughout the wash and rince cycles. Sounds like a loose belt but could not find a belt in the parts list for this model. Spray arm does not appear to be clogged. Not sure if float valve has anything to do with this either. Thank you!

    Hi,

Thank you for the reply. My model is DU840SWLT0 to be precise. Screeching noise has calmed down a bit, but appears to be the motor since the screeching sound only occurs for a few seconds when the motor is running and sounds like it is coming from the motor. Are there any tips to repairing the motor otherwise I will just replace the motor. Thanks.

Hi,
Take the kickplate off and then run a cycle... you should be able to tell then whether the sound is coming from the fill valve... usually in the front left of the machine... or the motor bearing which would be further back and center of the machine...

The sound is like coming from one of those two sources...

    Hi,

In some cases you can get some oil in o the motor shaft...but that is a temp. fix....

Hi, I have a Kenmore quietquard dishwasher model number 587.14012406a and it's making a loud noise throughout the wash it then stops and then restarts which is a vibrating noise and is extremely loud!

suggestion, i suspect you have got something in the wash pump or the pump impeller is breaking up this can cause a vibrating noise or it could be the rince pump.

My dishwasher is making these horrible screeching sounds during the wash cycle !! It's a stainless steel fridgdaire dishwasher about 5 yrs old

Open up the door, try spinning the cross fan to see if you can replicate the sounds if it does, check the fastener to see if it's either too loose or too tight, either of which can create such sounds.

Our Frigidaire Ultra Quiet II dishwasher loud buzzing noise- wash

No longer "ultra quiet" huh?

A sound during certain cycles indicates a broken part. By the information provided sounds like a pump may be the problem. You may need to contact a service tech about this issue. If the appliance still under warranty, the service should be provided for free.

Every time when you hear noises (other than the normal ones) in the appliance, it indicates there is something wrong and it will worsen over time, so as soon you hear something is not ok, get assistance.
