Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

Want to replace a White-Rodgers 1F58W-77,( 2 stage Heat/ 1 Cool) double mercury switch. Purchased a Honeywell 5-2 RTH6350D. Confused because the wires coming out of the wall are Yellow, Green, Red, White, Blue, Orange.

The Orange wire for the reversing valve and used with a Heat Pump
If you have a heat pump, then yes. If you have a gas furnace then no. If you have a HP and the reversing valve is not connected, then you might just be using the emergency electric heat strips. :-o

make sure the one that says "cool, hot, and off" is switched to off.

I recently installed a Honeywell RTH6350D to replace a 2 year old LUX and can get everything to work but the heat(reason for replacing the LUX). Works sometimes but not consistantly. Have the common red(R)...


R represents power supply for the heat system.
RC represents power supply for cooling system.
G represents fan (neutral).
W represents heat system.
Y represents cooling system.
Y2 represents 2nd stage cooling.
W2 represents 2nd stage heating.
AUX represents heat pump.
Try calling 1-800-468-1502.
Their english is "REALLY BAD"!!!

usually you should have 4 or 5 wires....if you have AC then this wire should be Y if not was it connected at all before?...Heating requires only R&W

check wiring to furnace check wire hook ups on board match letters and colors sometimes installer use what ever wiring they chose on letters
