Question about Beverage-Air MT72 Commercial Refrigerator

1 Answer

I've got a beverage air MT72 that heats up when we turn it on. We had a tech put in new refrigerant, which brought the temperature down from 90+ degrees down to around 60 degrees, but clearly refrigerant wasn't the issue. Any ideas? I'm trying to fix it so I can sell it (it has been in service about 8 years). Thanks.

Many things to look at. The compressor could have lost it's ability to pump properly due to worn valves. You could have the wrong freon or the wrong amount. The condenser could be clogged up. The expansion device could be malfunctioning. The evaporator fans may not be running. Lots of things to check so you can start to narrow down the issue.
Let me know if I can be of any further help.

Cooler keeps freezing product

You killed the messenger! The refrigerant charge is probably the problem. The thermostat senses the coil temperature and not the cabinet temperature. If somebody put gas in it, the gas has to be removed, a vacuum drawn on the system and then the refrigerant charge weighed in by the ounce. It takes a critical charge and needs to be weighed in by an accurate scale that weighs in ounces. Hope this helps and good luck.

Water dripping on everything inside - seems to be collecting on outside of upper fan housing. Drain hose is not clogged.

You need to shut it off and get the ice to melt off the coil. With that accomplished, put a thermometer inside and don't put the temperature below 37 degrees f. Hope this helps and good luck.

Beverage-Air Kegerator Not Staying Cold

It can take a very long time to get a keg of beer down in temperature. The heat transfer from a keg is slow due to the lack of air circulation inside the keg. You should also check your condenser coils, make sure they are clean. Door gasket should also be in good repair. Hope this helps.

Beverage-Air MT72

Bi-pin Fluorescent Lamp Installation /Verification Prior to applying power to the unit, verify that all lamps are properly installed and fully engaged in the lamp holders.

Proper lamp engagement is achieved by rotating the lamp 90° from its insertion position until it "snaps" or "clicks" into place.

Visual verification can be made on units without safety shields by using the identification mark on the end of the bulb. Properly installed bulbs will have the mark centered between the "halves" of the lamp holder.

On units with shields, the identification mark cannot be seen. Physically verify that the lamp has been rotated and locked into place.

Caution: Improperly installed lamps may cause damage to the lighting circuit. Beverage-Air shall have no liability whatsoever for equipment or component failures or other damages or losses which arise as a result of improper installation.
