Question about HP Pavilion Elite e9180t PC - 3.00 GHz; 1.5TB HD; 8GB Memory PC Desktop

1 Answer

I have a new HP Z400 with a TS-H653R DVD writer. Running Windows XP. Is it more likely a settings problem, a missing driver file, or genuinely a bad drive despite being new?

If you run CHKDSK/F or SCANDISK/F that will rule out the hard drive. Hope that helps.
You don't say what the problem is.

TSSTcorp TS-L632 (B) drive is writing CDs, reading DVDs but not writing DVDs.

First check that your drive is indeed a DVD writer and not a 'hybrid' i.e. CD writer and DVD reader. If it is, go on the manufacturer's site and see if they have Win 8 compatible drivers - Win 8 is a fairly new OS so they may not have had time to get a new one out.

Suddenly DVD drive (TSST corp CD/DVDW TS-L532M) has some malfunction. It won't burn DVD until end if file size is more than 2,5GB. It stops first around 96% if I have another try it will stop 86% and so...

what can it be lets make a list.
first off
Toshiba/samsung TSST when bankrupt in 2016
so no drivers now from them.
HP does not support this PC now, ended long ago.
MS XP is a dead OS, and does not send you drivers for this XP, MS shut the drivers services off called PnP.
1: XP is infected, as all are now.
2: the drive is bad. as many are now this old
3: the driver is missing or wrong own or it is infected.
4: the XP, DVD filters are wrong in the registry,
google that, see 1 millions hits, all the same.

5: your unstated BURN app is infected or corrupted.
try imgburn (free)

6: bad media DVD-R? your drive is lightscribe version , my guess is yours is OK.

7 burn at a slower speed?, use image burn
your spec is here. 8x

8x maximum write speed (DVD±R)!
* 2.4x maximum write speed (DL DVD+R)
* 4x maximum rewrite speed (DVD+RW)
* 24x maximum write speed (CD-R)
* 10x maximum rewrite speed (CD-RW)
* 24x maximum read speed (CD)

8: the unstated file is too big. ?
but if it really is 2.7GB then it is not.

Both Windows XP and Windows 7 have a "Settings and File Transfer Wizard". Run the wizard on the "old" computer, and say that you are running it on the old computer, and it will save all your files.
Transport the files to your new computer (DVD-writer or USB memory-stick) and run the wizard, and say that you are running it on the new computer, and "import" your files & settings.

email me and i will send the driver in an attachment file.please not though that the hp 740i burner is an internal I D E supported drive not a USB. as long as its a 740 model the driver should work, wether its usb or ide is up to the computer to associate it with.
