Question about Miele H398BP2 / H398B2 Electric Double Oven

1 Answer

I have a Miele H397 BP2 oven. We were having difficulty with the door switch making contact last year. We finally had a service tech out who replaced the switch. He informed me that this was caused by excessive heat from the self clean operation. This caused the plastic switch to bend slightly and not make proper contact when the door was closed and the oven would not heat. Sure enough I used the self clean function last week and again we have the same problem. It cost me considerable amount last time as we have no local Miele dealers and I had to pay extra to have a tech drive to our home. Obviously there is a design problem and I would like to know if any options are available to resolve this quite frustrating problem.

Contact Authorized Service Center if it's under warranty, else get any local expert to help you with it. They're likely to change Locking System of your Oven.

Replacement for inner glass

Replace the entire door, do not try to straighten it. If you or the retailer paid someone to deliver it, they are responsible for replacing it. The retailer where you bought the oven should be able to replace the door for you or you can contact Miele's Service and Repair Support at

Hi the is a two year g/tee on all Miele appliances. I would contact Miele and book a service call. The appliance most likely requires new clock. Modified clocks are available which allow you to change setting via control knobs rather than keypad.

Fault 23 is displayed on the control panel after using teh self clean function on our miele double OVEN H398 BP2. IT IS NOT LISTED ON THE MANUAL WAHT DOES IT MEAN?

F23 means that the required pyrolitic temperature was not reached during the self-clean cycle. If the other half of the oven does not do this, then it could be a problem with a door lock switch or one of the overtemp sensors.

F9 is appearing in the clock window

HI. This will code is indicating that the oven door lock mechanism is experiencing difficulties. Check the wiring to door lock switch (the wire harness may be connected wrong, or loose). Check for stuck lock switch, as well.If the wiring is not loose, or connected improperly, this will lead to a failed door lock mech. it will require you, ro your service tech to replace it, in this case.
