Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

Wood Garage door has a lower panel that is rotted to the point where the particle board is crumbling away and now there is a 4" wide X 2" high hole. The panel is raised with a decorative trim and replacement wood panels can not be found. Was thinking of nailing a thin backing board behind the panel on the inside side of the door and filling damaged area from the front with a paintable caulk smoothed out like dryway mud. Any other ideas? I don't want to replace the whole door which will cost about $1500 as its a double sized garage door.

How to fix my garage door opener?

I'm assuming you mean that it won't close, only open? If that's the case then your eye beams may need to be adjusted. The wall button can override the sensors whereas the remotes can not.

We have a LiftMaster 973LM model - the remote only opens the door, but when it starts to close, it only goes down a tiny bit, then goes back up. The "Inside" remote however, you now have to press...

Check the sensors in the doorway. They must be pointed at one another and the small light on each one must be lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.

Hi. I have a 4 panel door 2.2 by 4.5 meters. The lift unit is a merlin 2600P. What is the correct door "float" requirement when fully down.Should it want to rise of its own accord or should it...

You do not want the door to start to rise on its own. If you manually raise the door at some point between belt and shoulder high it should stay there. If it does it is properly balanced. If it starts to rise or fall it needs adjusting or maybe new springs.

My keyless opener is 4 years old. the pad and remote will nor open door. Only the button inside of garage functions. WHY?

If they will only raise the door then the problem may be in the safety sensors. Make sure they are aligned and the led light on them are lit. If they will only lower the door then you may have the vacation lock engaged. On the wall button press and hold the lock button for 2 seconds and then try. If they just do not work at all then replace the logic board. Thanks BB

JUST INSTALLED CRAFTSMAN 3/4 TODAY, WHEN IT OPENS IT WANT TO PULL THE WOOD FRAME FROM ACROSS THE TOP OF THE DOOR AND BEND THE DOOR ITSELF, CAN'T FIND ANY TROUBLESHOOTING ADVISE

How did door work when you opened manually. OK? Did you mount door opener at right height. Reinforce top of door with mending plates. Do not understand your description that you are pulling the wood frame across the top of door.

Garage door will open to sensor level and stop

You might have a broken spring. Check on the a the header above the door there should be a tude with a drum on each end and 2 springs (maybe one) towards the center. se if one of the springs has a gap (1-2 inches) in it. If it does you will nedd to cal a door company in your area. I recommend you replace both springs.
If you need to get you cars out some times you can help the operator to lift the door by lifting the door while the operator is lifting the door. Be very careful not to get your fingers in a pinch point and be sure to lower the door the same way.
