Question about Onkyo TX-SR608 Receiver
If you don't already have one (and I don't have any way of knowing whether or not you do because it isn't mentioned in this problem description) you would need to get an hdmi to dvi cable. It does not carry sound. If you have the adaptor piece that you attach to the end of an hdmi cable that doesn't always work as well for whatever reason.
However now that I am looking at the rear of you Onkyo I don't see that either of the hdmi inputs on it have a corresponding audio input to accommodate hdmi to dvi situations such as these. I was going to recommend connecting a 3.5 mm minijack cable between the computer and the Onkyo or rather a cable that has one 3.5 minijack end and a red and white RCA audio cable on the other end. The only problem I forsee with doing so is that when you select the function/input on the Onkyo you wll not be able to choose one for both picture and sound when connecting with you Dell. Unfortunately it appears that the Dell will have to be connected directly to a television.
