Hi

The issue can either be a bad electronic control/clock assembly or the oven temperature sensor (probe) has gone bad. To solve this issue start by checking the oven temp. sensor for 1100 ohms, if the rating is more then that then check the control and door switch and replace the part that is bad. Hope this helps...

I purchased a house w/ a Jenn-air elect. drop-in range. The Model # is 87946 or 87847. I believe the range was originally purchased in 1975. I am in need of an instruction manual .

Neither of these are a typical Jenn-Air model number. http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=JA_EN_US suggests that the model number is on the back wall under the burner on the right side of a drop-in cooktop. For a range the model number is often on the frame inside the oven door, below the vent or on the back of the top of the range.

87946 or 87847 are the part numbers for the cartridges (the elements or the surrounding housing).

Look at the model number locations at the "Help me find my model number" link and try to locate a model number on your range. Then enter that model into the search box. The manual is probably available with the correct part number. Most Jenn-air electric cooktops start with JEC in their model number.

I hope this helps you locate the manual.

My folks recently purchased a house with a Jenn-Air S160 electric grill-range/oven. The left hand side electric burner cartridge's back burner superheats on the low setting. I've switched the burner...

Sounds like the problem is in the control assy. especially if you switched the burnners and the problem remained. Go to the jenn-air website and see if they have a parts breakdown for your unit.
Record the model number of the unit before you search, you will need that info.

This an old range with side by side ovens which work perfectly. the 4 burners slide out, all 4 elements will heat, but do not get to a high heat, is there a control which affects all of the elements ...

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

This sounds like your missing 1/2 of your input power. Go to the main CB panel and cycle the Range CB to OFF by pressing it hard to off and then back on. Test your burners again.

Still have the problem? Start looking in the area of the house to oven power connection / terminal block in the back of the oven for signs of HOT / burned terminals.

Still have the problem... Last check is to check wiring in the main controls area.

Without your model number this a VERY generic response but when all burners present the same symptom it is usually input power or control related.

If you respond with a model number I wil see what I can find that may help you troubleshoot your Oven.

Thank for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Jenn-Air Microwave Oven (JMC8130DDB) is dead. CB in Main (Box) is OK. Microwave is mounted in a wall cabinet over a Jenn-Air electric self clean Oven. Oven was in "self-clean" when the Microwave...

Hi!
I read your comment about needing to remove the control board to inspect it for damage. Looking at the diag. below, all you need to do is open the oven door and remove the two screws (#2 on diag.) fastening the brackets that hold the board in place and you can take it from there.
1kbron_12.png
Refer to the diag. below If it was me, I would start by turning the breakers for both ovens OFF, then, in getting someone to help me pull the oven out, disconnect the power cord and check the power circuit protection devices like the fuse #4, located above the fan and the power board #25 also located on the back of the unit. Before replacing the blown fuse, inspect the wiring, If the unit is mounted over an oven that was in the Self Cleaning Mode that reaches temps. of about 500 degrees, there is a chance that a wire's insulation melted and shorted the unit.

If you need better resolution and the names and prices of the components on these diagrams, click on the following links: for the first diag: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Jenn-air-Parts/Microwave-Parts/Model-JMC8130DDB/1266/0123100/M0512405/00001?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=JMC8130DDB for the second diag: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Jenn-air-Parts/Microwave-Parts/Model-JMC8130DDB/1266/0123100/M0512405/00004?blt=06&prst=0&shdMod=JMC8130DDB

It sounds like the magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 on high resistance range for short circuit, the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.

I have an old Jenn Air microwave above the range I need to remove

Hi there,

If you only need to remove the oven from the housing, there will be (should be!) 2 small screws at each side of the trim, 2 top and 2 bottom. Remove these and the oven should slide straight out. These screws will be into the side panels of the housing, but there may only be two fitted! Depending what you are intending to do next, you may have to disconnect the supply cable and/or dismantle the oven to replace parts. You will need two people to lower it to the floor, have a stool or similar handy in case the cable length is too short to allow this.

Good Luck
Thanks
