Need some more info on the Sand filter. I can help you out. With the rest. Is that the pic of the filter you have. If it is then its a top mount. Depending on the debri that comes into pool, you will back wash 1-2 times a week. After back washing you will turn to rinse and let it run for awhile (of course each time you turn the handle make sure the pump is OFF. Set, then turn on.) then back to filter.. Any Q's just hit me up buddy..

SOURCE: hayward pool cleaner wont move

sounds like the turbine or a-frame bearings are bad. A turbine kit with a-frames will be a solution. Also check the pod shoes for wear, should be a good 1/4" or better.

SOURCE: Hayward navigator (Gunnite pool) does not move.

you need to install a turbine kit with "a" frames. sounds like your bearings are bad either on the turbine, "a " frames, or both. A set of shoes would be a good idea as well.

Hayward pool filter Model SP711 alignment on filter, ports, spider gasket replacement

Remove the 6 screws from around the valve assembly. Pay close attention to the current orientation of the valve assembly before removing. Lift the value assembly straight out and the spider gasket is on the bottom. This could be twisted a little which would also cause your back flush port to leak when positioned in the filter position. If twisted, just position back in alignment with the valve holes on the bottom of the valve assembly. If the gasket is worn or torn then just replace and place the valve assembly back in the valve housing and replace all 6 screws. If you still have problems with water not functioning based on the way you have the handle turned then it might be time to replace the entire valve assembly.

Hayward pool pumps

The impeller on this Hayward pump unthreads counter clockwise.
Take a big flat head screw driver and put it on the center shaft on the back of the motor to hold the shaft solid while you unthread the impeller.

Hayward sand s166t. leaking from bottom

Are you sure it is leaking from a spot "Originating" at the bottom? Many times this is what is seen, but the water is actually traveling down the side.

If at the bottom, you either have a cracked tank, or the drain cap is loose, missing the cap gasket or it is on "Cross Threaded"?

But... most likely from experience, it leaking at the valve clamp.

How do I replace the bottom tube sheet on a hayward DE EC50 pool filter?

If your filter gauge on your filter is broken or cracked then you will need to replace it with a new one. Replacing the gauge on the EC40 or another EC Perflex filter requires just a few steps.

The first thing you will want to do is to buy a new replacement gauge for the Hayward EC filter that you are working on. Once you have the new gauge you can remove the gauge one of two different ways. The first way is to carefully grab the gauge with your hands and spin the gauge counter clockwise until it's all the way out. If the gauge is tightened a lot you will have to use the other method to remove the gauge. This method would be to use an open-end wrench or a crescent wrench to remove the gauge from the filter.

Just on top of the gauge threads you will see a square that is made from the brass that the threads are. You can attach your wrench to that square and then turn the gauge counter clockwise to remove it. Once the gauge is removed you will want to install the new EC filter gauge. Before you screw the new gauge into the filter you will want to wrap the filter gauge threads a few times with some Teflon tape so that the gauge doesn't leak. Once you wrap the Hayward EC swimming pool filter gauge a few times with the tape you can screw it back into the pool filter. Once you have hand tightened the filter gauge back into the filter you can use your wrench that you removed the gauge with to tighten the gauge all the way. Be sure to be careful as the gauge stem is made from brass and the filter is made from plastic. If you over tighten the gauge you cab crack the filter housing.

My hayward navigator pool sweep does not move. we have replaced feet and flaps. . . . .

The first question would be do you have the proper amount of suction to make it work. You didn't say if you had a dedicated vac line or if you plug into the skimmer. Can you reach through the hole in the bottom and spin the turbine easily with your finger. It may have eaten a rock and is stuck. If so, loosen the one screw on the bottom, pull off that plate, and you will be able to see what is jamming the turbine. One last test is to hold one of the pods firmly and then trying to move the other pod. It should not move anymore that a quarter inch or so. If it moves freely you have a broken "A" frame that will need to be replaced.

Replace the tie rod on a 1998 sienna

1 PUT ON YOUR EMERGENCY BREAK, LOOSEN THE WHEEL NUTS ON THE FRONT WHEELS,JACK UP THE CAR AND REMOVE THE FRONT WHEEL. WITH SOME YELLOW PAINT ,MARK THE THREADS WHERE IT SCREWS INTO THE TIE ROD END SO YOU KNOW HOW FAR TO SCREW THE NEW ON ONTO. TAKE OUT THE COTTER PIN AND REMOVE THE CASTLE NUT FROM THE ROD. USE A PRY BAR TO SEPERATE THE BOLT FROM THE TIE ROD END. ONCE SEPARATED YOU SHOULD BE ABLE UNSCREW THE OLD TIE ROD END OFF THE SHAFT..TAKE THE NEW ONE AND SCREW IT BACK ON ONLY TO THE YELLOW PAINT MARK THAT YOU MADE ON THE ROD EARLIER. THEN JUST REASSEMBLE THE SAME WAY YOU TOOK IT APART. MAKE SURE YOU TORQUE THE NUT TO 50 LBS.AND BE SURE TO USE A NEW COTTER PIN ON THE CASTLE NUT..

What is the difference betwwen the hayward C900 and the C1200. I current have a C900 and the pool has a 1 1/2 hp pump I was thinking of and up grade

Most pumps are sized to the plumbing and filter size. If you go with a bigger pump and don't have the right size plumbing you can downgrade the water flow and create cavation noise in the system while actually getting less flow. If the filter is to small for the new pump you can get the same thing along with the bonus of hurting or cracking the filter. This is where you may want a pro on site (not Johnny One Truck) to help with this decision.

On my Hayward ProGrid filter there is water leaking from the air release assembly? What can I do

If it is the assembly (the piece that the pressure gauge and relief nut screw into) that is leaking you would need to replace it, it is about $90.

If it is where the assembly attaches to the top of the filter head you can replace those O-rings ($10-$15) then clean and re-teflon the male threads.

Filter grid alignment

First, I don't understand why I could not submit my question when the filter model I have was not listed in the drop-down of models. As I wrote in my question, I had to choose the wrong filter, JUST to get the question submitted. NOTE: This instruction is for Hayward DE filters. Mine is a DE 6000, but I believe the instructions apply to all sizes.

I did solve my question by:
  1. Place the grid manifold upside down on a flat surface. (Holes up, remove the air escape tube first.)
  2. Start with the SMALL filter grid(1 of 8) and insert it in the location hole to the left of the stand pipe inlet. (The LARGE hole in the manifold.)
  3. Continue inserting the remaining 7 filter grids counterclockwise into the location holes, with the tight curl of the grid going toward the center.
  4. The base plate (circular swirl piece) is now worked onto the filter grids, BEING SURE THE "CUT-OUT" FOR THE STANDPIPE ALIGNS WITH LARGE MANIFOLD HOLE, where the standpipe will be.
  5. I found working from the center outward, and giggling the plate as I progressed, the filter grid ends worked their way into place. You'll know it's in place when the plate feels solid and is parallel with the manifold. The filter ends will be in the correct notches and the grids will be symmetrical.
  6. Drop the stainless center rod (with washer and nut in place) through the base plate and into the hole in the center of the manifold.
  7. Holding the assembly together, by pressing the base plate and manifold together (with one finger on the rod), turn filter grid assembly over.
  8. Place washer, and tighten nut, on top of rod. Replace air escape tube and tighten clamp.
  9. Lightly lube the standpipe with Vaseline and place the filter grid assembly into the bottom filter housing.
  10. Lightly coat large "O" ring with Vaseline and place onto top lip of bottom filter housing.
  11. Place filter housing top on top of the filter housing bottom, being sure to create an equal size gap between the 2 pieces.
  12. Place the clamp ring around the seam and tighten both screws until the springs are completely compressed. (There will be a slight gap between the clamp ring halves.)
  13. Fire up the pump, add fresh DE through the skimmer return line to the filter, and enjoy your pool.
