Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have an Acer Travelmate 4222WLMi. The mousepad works, but the keyboard is unresponsive when any key is pressed, that is, I hear a pop/click-type sound but the selected character/key doesn't show on the screen.

This is either a physical issue or a operating system related one...To see if it is a operating system issue try to get into BIOS settings by pressing the DEL key on start ..if it works it means the keyboard does not have any physical damage and reinstalling the operation system will fix the issue ...
In this case you may also try to roll back the driver for the keyboard into the device manager and see if this will fix the problem ...or when you get into bios reset it to default by choosing the optimal factory settings and save settings with F10 ..
If the keyboard is disabled this will fix the issue ..or get to the control panel ...choose the keyboard ..than . hardware ..and in there properties...Under thedriver ..choose roll back driver or update it ..and see if it is reinstalling itself..
If when the laptop is not booted to windows yet and you press the del key and nothing is happening ...it may be a faulty keyboard and need to be changed or you have to open it and see if the connection ribbon is in place ..
If it gets you to bios ..the easiest way is to reinstall the operation system or use the recovery partition if you have one ..
If yo do not want to reinstall it ..you may choose the system restore to roll back the settings to an earlier date when you know it worked for sure..(in case it seam to work in bios..)

Laptop screen frozen;arrow wont move;cant type in user name.ACER Aspire

The appeal to any laptop is the ease of portability of the machine, and an Acer laptop is no different. With an integrated mouse pad, these computers can be quite the boon to those looking to have their technology on the go, but a number of issues can afflict Acer laptops, including unresponsive mouse pads. Fortunately, a few clicks of the keyboard and some driver downloads can alleviate most Acer mouse pad problems.

Take a close look at the Acer laptop mouse buttons. Make sure the exterior of the buttons are clean and that there is no grime around the edges and crevasses of the Acer buttons. Dirt on top of the mouse pad can result in slower performance or an unresponsive experience, while grime around the sides of the mouse buttons can cause problems with the pressing and depressing of the mouse. Is there any way your mouse pad has been turned off? Check into this possibility. On an Acer laptop, hitting the "Function" (Fn) key and "F7" on the key board will result in the mouse pad being switched off. Hence, you may have hit this function and your mouse pad may not actually be broken or require any repair. Hitting the "Fn" button and the "F8" key on the Acer keyboard will result in the mouse pad being turned back on again. Click on the "Printers and Other Hardware" option on your PC. This is an alternative method to the above. At this point, examine the menu that comes up and click on the button at the top that reads "Device Settings." You should then see an option to click on your Acer mousepad. Highlight this option and click "OK." Launch your Web browser and go to the official Acer website. http://www.acerpanam.com/ The above steps may not have worked, so downloading new drivers for your mouse may be necessary. Select your country of origin, then click on "Support." You will be asked to click on your country again. After you do so, click on the link that says "Drivers and Downloads" on the left sidebar. Select your product line ("Notebooks") as well as your specific Acer computer model, and then hit "Search." Click on the link that says "Touchpad drivers." Your Acer computer may only require new drivers for your mousepad. Download the .exe file and run it to install the contents to your Acer computer. Restart your Acer computer after fully completing the download and installation process. Once the restart process has completed, the driver installation will be complete and your mouse should work again.

I have an Acer TRAVELMATE 4222 and tried to restore the problem by installing the Microsoft 2003 disc but it tells me that windows 32 is missing. Can I resolve this problem? How does one reformate this...

Hi

i believe it could be in your programs
start
program
acer empowering technologies
acer erecovery management
recovery

then follow onscreen instructions

but please if you have the option save any important items like files or photo,s to
a spare drive or disk before you do this as you will loose all you put on and it will format your drive
and hopefully restore back to factory settings

if you cannot start the laptop correctly
then try to press the power key along with the alt+f10 key i believe this will start the recovery

Acer 4600 travelmate. my keyboard does not work

Try to plug in an external keyboard and see if that works.
Then if it does, go to Run and type in OSK, which will bring the on screen keyboard up, see if you can use the mousepad to type in using the OSK.

Have you spilt anything on the laptop, or done any dismantling? If so, you need to remove the keyboard and check there is no residue on the connector as it meets the motherboard, that there are no kinks or cinches in the cable and that the ribbon cable is tight in its clip

Keyboard not working

My first solution for you would be, press the key Fn at the bottom left side of the keyboard and and the key on the top right hand side called ""num lik"" or ""scroll"". First hold the FN key down and then press only do not hold the num lik key.

Please tell me if you need a better explanation because I think I did not explained myself very clear.

Replace the keyboard easily available for cheap. Get full manual at Acer website but replacement is easy, be careful of the clips holding the connection to the motherboard, don't remove just slide upward to release..

Keyboard not working on acer travelmate 2350

it could be the sensors are damaged under the keys, but hopefully its just the driver. Right click on my computer icon and click properties and then the hardware tab, then device manager and look down the list for keyboard. Click the + sign and then right click on your keyboard under that and select uninstal. Restart the notebook and it will reinstall itself and hopfully work as it should do, if not then the keyboard itself is damaged in some way.
