Brand new, freezes at about same time while viewing. Changed movies but still freezes

Do you have anti-virus software installed? If not, you may be infected, and your system is being used by the virus to send out spam e-mails.

Have you been using this DVD player for several years? If so, there may just be residue on the lens inside, which keeps it from reading a DVD and causes it to freeze. Have you tried running a cleaning disc through it to see if that fixes the problem? Worth a try. ;)

The problem here is with the lens. It is weakened by constant playing of media.
It is usually not very advisable to watch movies, or play songs directly from the DVD drive. This is because this damages the lens especially when you rewind and fast forward on it.
When ever you want to watch a movie, it is best you copy it onto your HDD first, then watch. You could delete it later when you are done if you are 'space conscious'.
In the mean time, you would have your lens checked, and probalbly changed.

if it is ok then clean it one time and try one more time and first try two open vcd and then dvd

Is the player new? If it's a new DVD player and still under warranty, I would return it, exchange it or possibly, consider changing brands: perhaps to a Phillips brand DVD player. After all, the Phillips corporation guarantees its DVD players will play everything, just read the box in which the player's packaged - it's the best bang for your buck. With DVD players being so inexpensive these days, the best option is to buy new. Keep computing Chomskyites.

Well I wont be as quick to buy a new player yet!!

Firstly i would clean the lens and try running it the the cover off.. That should give you some time. But yes eventually you will need a player. Also the movie that freeze in the same place every time, try that on a neighbours or friends player to be certin it works :)..

I always try to avoid spending unnecessary cash or delaying it for as much as i possibly can. Hopefully taking the cover off will allow it to cool better giving you a few months to get things in order.

It may be a case of downloading "CODECS" for the the software to be able to recognize the new movies. It's an anti-piracy technique that require frequent updates to view DVD's on computers to try to eliminate copying.

Probably needs either a cleaning or a new laser picup assembly
