Question about Whirlpool GS6NBEXR Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

I have a Whirlpool Refrigerator Model# GS5SHAXNT00 and the water supply line to the ice maker has frozen up. I have an icecicle that forms from the supply line down to the icemaker it's self. I've broken the icecicle and it keeps reforming even with the icemaker shut off. What could be causing this problem and is there an easy fix? I'm not interested in spending a fortune by calling service for repair. Any info you can provide would be appreciated.

This is an easy fix. Your water valve is dripping like an old faucet and causing that stalagmite to form. Replace the water valve, thaw out the supply tube, and party on!

Ice make did not refill, what should I look for?

it could be one of the following:

- bad water inlet valve
- frozen water supply line in freezer
- bad ice maker

the water inlet valve would need to be tested with an ohm meter, you could manually check the water supply lin in the back of the freezer section that supplies the ice maker. the ice maker would need to be properly checked by a trained technician.

The water supply line to the ice maker on my Whirlpool side by side refrigerator is visibly frozen, and will not supply water to the ice maker. How do I fix this?

With the information given , I would say to pull fridge out from wall , and remove the 2 screws holding the spout . Pull the spout out and defrost with warm water . Reinstall the spout and replace the water inlet valve . Valve had to have a slow leak for the tube to freeze . A model number would have helped to give a more precise answer .

Ice maker works but no water comes out from the ice maker coil

The solenoid valve that supplies water to the ice maker is leaking,so the water get frozen and when the ice maker call for water it doesnt get through, you need to replace that solenid valve.

The ice maker in my whirlpool gold refrigerator Model No, GR2FHTXTBOO, is not working.

Hello jitkagardner,
Welcome

You said, The ice maker in my whirlpool gold refrigerator Model No, GR2FHTXTBOO, is not working.

How old is the fridge?
When have you last changed the water filter.
Should be down below at the front grille!
Try these tasks!

If the ice maker is not producing ice or not enough ice
Refrigerator connected to a water supply and the supply
shutoff valve turned on? Connect refrigerator to water
supply and turn water shutoff valve fully open.
• Kink in the water source line? A kink in the line can reduce
water flow. Straighten the water source line.
• Ice maker turned on? Make sure wire shutoff arm or switch
(depending on model) is in the ON position.
• New installation? Wait 24 hours after ice maker installation
for ice production to begin. Wait 72 hours for full ice
production.
• Freezer door closed completely? Firmly close the freezer
compartment door. If the freezer compartment door will not
close all the way, see "The doors will not close completely."
• Large amount of ice recently removed? Allow 24 hours for
ice maker to produce more ice.
• Ice cube jammed in the ice maker ejector arm?
Remove ice from the ejector arm with a plastic utensil.
• Water filter installed on the refrigerator? Remove filter and
operate ice maker. If ice volume improves, then the filter may
be clogged or incorrectly installed. Replace filter or reinstall it
correctly.
• Reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to
your cold water supply? This can decrease water pressure.

Let me know how it goes!

Ice maker leaking into ice storage tray

please check the small hose that guide the water to the ice tray. see that it is in good condition and no cracks or damage what so ever. then look closely at the ice tray, there maybe an ice that would not fell. could have been stuck in there that is why every time water would flow, it would just flow anywhere.

tnx 4 using fixya,

Water line to ice maker frozen

Check to make sure that the damper between the freezer and fridge is not broken or frozen open. Make sure that you shut off the water supply to the fridge until you get this fixed because the line could crack and then you could flood the house.

Ice maker wont make ice

It is quite possible that the water line which feeds the ice maker is frozen. Whirlpool manufactures a "REPLACEMENT" water line that solves this problem. Fortunatly our problem occured while the refrigerator was still under warranty. I would suggest that anyone owning a Whirlpool product purchase the longest extended warranty available! They USED to manufacture a quality product. But I guess they just don't care about the consumer any longer. It is all about money!!
