The fabric softener compartment in is full of water. I need to empty this manually prior to each wash . Many, many thanks. Judy

The fabric softener dispenser has to be purged between wash cycles to prevent residue from clogging it. What you are observing is normal operation.

My machine will not take the conditioner into the wash

in this case, do the following test. Since the machine starts to fill water a little pull out dispenser drawer and make sure water intake to softener compartment. There is possible 2 failures. First, clogged the holes for intake water above softener compartment and water doesn't intake to softener compartment. Second, faulty water dispenser so water intake to the pre-wash or wash compartment.

Water in slot for fabric softener wont drain. Always water in there. Lameez SA Jan2014

Remove the dispenser draw and wash it all out. The most likely cause is that fabric softener has congealed and blocked the dispenser. I hate what softeners do to machines with a vengeance. I would never put any fabric softener anywhere near my machine ever. They cause many problems that are not easily remedied.

Will not rinse well

Is the dishwasher leaving them soapy or dirty with food due to the no rinsing? If the problem is still dirty with food you can try some of the following tips.

Choose a cycle with longer washing time.

Avoid nesting items on top of each other or layering them too close together.
The home water pressure may be too low; it should be between 20-120 psi (pounds per square inch) which should be checked by a plumber.

The incoming water temperature should be at least 120F at the sink closest to the dishwasher before starting a wash cycle.

For heavy food soils always select HI-TEMP WASH option if available.

Check for water hardness. Water hardness can be determined by the local water supply company, water treatment company or via a water hardness test kit, which can be found at local part distributors or hardware stores. In areas where the water hardness is 12 grains or higher, some kind of water softening is recommended. For very hard water a home water softening system would be recommended.

Always use fresh detergent, the older the detergent (About one year) the less effective it is at cleaning dishes

LG front loader (new) Water will not drain from the softener tray, also does not clear out the softener all the way. I called a tech and his solution was to raise the washer up in the front. this does not...

LG have a problem with their machines - SOMETIMES the machines FAILS to squirt water into the softener compartment (the middle one) and leave the soften there. It took me over a year to get LG to finally replace my machine with a new one - They COULD NOT FIX it! I have videos of 2 machines doing the same thing - nycdarko@gmail.com

Spots on clothes after washing

Put another filter on before the washer. Try to find out if it is in the hot water or the cold. If it is the cold try a filter. If it is the hot, replace your hot water tank.

Clothes rough & scratchy as if dried outside in freezing temps

Having a water softening unit and keeping it working properly are two different things....when was the last time the system was regenerated? Has the hardness of the water been tested lately? Even though you have a softener, it dose sound like a hard water problem....First step would be to get the water tested not only for harness but also for mineral content. Test the water before and after regenerating the unit. Some home improvement centers have a home water test kit available that would be quicker and cheaper but not as reliable as having a lab do it. The home test kits may point you in the right direction before spending for a lab to test. Hope this helps. Let me know what you find.

Bosch Washing Machine Softener Tray not emptying

You need to replace the cold water inlet valve. If the machine is older than one year it may be clogged on the side that moderates the cold water to the bleach and softener compartment. Replacing the valve fixed the problem. During the cycle when the softener dispenser fills it should fill quickly and no or little water should be seen in the soap dispenser area. If a lot of water goes into the soap dispense and little into the softener area the valve is clogged.

We have a fairly new Kenmore Elite front loading washing machine. We also have rather hard water here in Indiana. Problem is, water softeners do not seem to work. The manual says that the liquid water...

Hello, I would like to help with your dilemma. First, adding a Liquid or Powder Softening agent to the Wash or Rinse Cycle of a Washing Machine when using extremely Hard Water as the source is trying to treat the symptom and not fix the cause. These pre-packaged Softening agents are filled with Salts that attempt to mix with the Hard Water Minerals and Neutralize them so the soaps can saturate the water and supposedly clean the clothes more effectively. However, the Hard Water Minerals are still trapped in the water supply with these Salts because they are not removed. And, the manufacturers of these Salt Based Softening Agents have no idea of what level of Hardness (Calcium and Magnesium Carbonates) exist from City to City, State to State, or in private Well water supplies. So, if they provide 200 parts per million of Salts in their package, but the Water Hardness is 600 parts per million of Calcium and Magnesium Carbonates, there is no way the Salts will be effective. With "Traditional" Whole House Water Softening, the Water Treatment Appliance actually removes the Hard Water Minerals before the water is distributed to the entire home or business, then allowing the Washing Machine, Dishwasher, Water Heater, Showers, Bathtubs, and other water bearing appliances to perform their tasks as specified by their manufacturer. These Water Softeners typically attach to the main water line of the entire home or business, and virtually exchange equal amounts of Salt for equal amounts of Hardness regardless of the incoming hardness rating. Then, as the total capacity of the Softener becomes exhausted for the batch of water it has treated, the Control Valve automatically Regenerates the system with a new batch of Salt-Softened Water to use in the home or business. And, when you treat the water for the entire home, you reap the benefits of Protecting ALL of the Plumbing, Fixtures, Faucets, Valves, Appliances, and other household items from Scale and Hard Water Destruction.
