Question about Air Tools & Compressors

1 Answer

I have an old Bostitch electric wheelbarrow type contractor's compressor that I can't find parts for (CWT60), but right now specifically, the shut off is not working properly. I remove the cover and can push the little fiber plate that moves other parts and shuts it off because it has reached capacity. This does pop it off and it is staying off so far, but whatever is supposed to flip it off automatically does not seem to be working. Any ideas?

Pressure switches get tired and unreliable over time. Replace it with universal type switch available on ebay or at Make sure that cut off pressure is in the range that you need and check thread /port size and quantity will fit your system. I like Square D brand and use the type with one 3/8 pipe fitting on the bottom and use other fittings as needed. I also like to have the on/off lever instead of a pull or twist knob that tends to break off. Usually cost about 20.00. Good holidays

I need new brushes for a Bostitch CAP2000 air compressor. Anyone know where to find them?

The brushes for the type of motor in your compressor are not sold seperately as a part. If all you need is the brushes to get it going again your best bet is to find a power tool service center or someone that works on electric motors to see if they have something close that will work or can be adapted to work in your motor.

Our Rigid air compressor constantly shuts down and needs to be reset. What causes this or is this just a poor compressor?

It is a junk compressor, but you want to make sure you're using a heavy duty enough cord and an outlet with good power to run it. I have a RolAir that is a power hog, I usually need to check several outlets on a jobsite to find one strong enough to start my compressor. Usually the closer to the electrical panel/service you go the better the power is.

I have this compressor and when I pull the switch to turn it on nothing happens. It is only about 5 months old. Is there a reset switch or somthing?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

The parts schematic can be found on this page:

Pop-ups have to be enabled to see the pdf file schematic that will come up with this address:

I tink your pressure switch has failed that is item 21 of the above link. The SHOULD be a warranty repair. Item 21 : AB-9415626 0021 PRESSURE SWITCH $21.60

It is possible that the motor itself has failed but on a unit 5 months old the pressure switch is the most likely suspect.

The pressure cut off setting is too high. Locate your operation manual and adjust the pressure to the manufactures specs. Normal shut off pressure is @ 125 psi.

BostitchCAP60-OF won't pressure up past 95lb and keeps running

This comperssor is oiless thus has a vinyl piston ring that wears quite fast depending on use and conditions at the work site. Slow pressure build or cycle never completes indicates a worn cylinder and piston ring. I would replace the cylinder, piston ring, valve plate, and intake valve. These parts are not expensive and available at enjoy
