Question about Dishwashers
A loud mechanical noise from inside the tub, like something that is grinding is almost always the impeller pump. The impeller is the part that pumps water in the spray arm. Before replacing the pump it is useful to check the hoses connected to pump.
If noise is grinding and mechanical and comes from inside the tub, also check the spray arms rotation.
If instead you get a soft humm from the back of the appliance, similar to the humming of a not well grounded sound amplifier, then the problem is likely a jammed inlet valve.
