Either run a diagnostic test in the eithernet menu or try hooking up to the internet through wi-fi, if thats not possible then try disconnecting the cable then reconnecting it.

Even if other devices are not having a problem connecting to your wireless access point, it is usually a good idea to try those steps first.
1. Unplug the power cord from your modem. 2. Unplug the power cord from your router. 3. Wait 10-15 seconds. 4. Reconnect the power to your modem. 5. Reconnect the power to your router. 6. Wait 30-45 seconds while the devices reconnect to your service provider. 7. Retest your Xbox Live connection.
This process is known as power cycling. It removes the temporary files and caches stored in the devices, so when you reconnect a device, such as your Xbox, it's actually making a new connection request rather than trying to use the previous connection, which in some cases becomes corrupted and results in a connection error.
(I've had to do this several times with my own Xbox. Computers connect to the Internet just fine, but Live says there's a connection problem. Power cycling fixes it every time.)

XBOX LIVE MTU ERROR FIX IF ALL ELSE FAILS

MTU ERROR FIX: IF YOU TRIED EVERYTHING EVERYONE ELSE SUGGESTED DO THIS, CHECK TO SEE IF YOU HAVE FIREWALL RUNNING ON SECURITY SOFTWARE (MY CASE WAS AVG INTERNET SECURITY) DISABLE IT AND EVERYTHING SHOULD WORK FINE, IT DID FOR ME AND I HAD LOST ALL HOPE AND XBOX LIVE HAD BEEN WORKING FINE BEFORE THIS ERROR BUT I RUN MY XBOX CONNECTION FROM MY PC (ICS) SO THATS PROBABLY YOUR PROBLEM IF YOUR SET UP LIKE ME. ITS THE SIMPLE THINGS THAT CAUSE THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS.

Xbox live via cricket wireless

I can connect to XBox Live through this fashion on my Cricket Modem:

Now, I have had problems with this fix running Windows 7 (still can't get it to work), but I didn't have any struggles with XP or Vista.

You need to go into Manage Network Connections, right click on your Cricket Modem, and select Properties.

Click the Share Tab, and click it so it allows other users to connect through that network connection. Now, go to the Networking tab under Properties and right click on the Internet Protocol Version 6 and make sure it is automatically assigning both DNS and the 6 IP, Apply.

Next do the same with the TCP/IPV4 section under Networking, make sure everthing is automaticaly assigning.

Click on the Router and make sure that it is automatically assigning the Internet Protocol 4 and 6. Now click diagnos, and it should reset the router, automatically apply the correct settings, and bam. You SHOULD be able to connect with XBox Live.

I have no problems with this with Vista and XP, as I stated before. But now my main computer is running the 7 RC and I can't figure the darn thing out yet. So I figured out a cute solution. I took my Dell Mini, connected the Cricket Modem to it, and ran an ethernet cord from the XBox to the Mini.

Pretty much same solution after that, only instead of selecting your router, you select the LAN connection that is not your Cricket. For me itassigns the XBox as LAN and the Cricket as LAN2.

Let's see how it goes. :)

Requires an xbox live membership with permission to play live

Hi,

You shouldn't need the parental controls changed to log onto Xbox Live. However, since you switched computers make sure that your Xbox is getting connection to the internet correctly. You can 'Test Connection' in the settings tab of the Xbox home screen.

If you are getting the internet connection correctly and logging in with your normal Gamertag, you should have no problems.

I want to go on to xbox live but i dont no how

Be sure you have an internet connection hooked into the xbox. Also, if you cannot connect to Live due to connection problems, be sure to test the connection by going to MY XBOX, System Settings, Network settings.

Instructions on making a xbox live account can be found here:

http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/xbox360/XboxLive/JoinXboxLive/AccountCreation/JoinXboxLive.aspx

That should help you and get connected.
