Question about Kenmore 65924 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

My kenmore dryer 80series mdl #66822694 stopped after few minutes of use. push start button but it would stop immediately. cooled briefly and was able to run a cycle using the timed select not the automatic select. the next day after non-use all night went to use push button and started but stopped almost immediately. then pushed button again and nothing. does this sound like a relay switch issue or motor issue. thanks, eric

inside DUCT on back of dryer? What is this? This isn't the air exhaust duck, right? Is it where the heater element is?

  • ehallfors Dec 30, 2010

i just went and pushed start button and the machine tried really hard to get going but never did and then the button stopped working completely and when i pushed it again, nothing. Is thsi thermal fuse the same as the heater relay?

  • ehallfors Dec 30, 2010

the thermal fuse has a black covering/piece between the terminals. is this just a cover protecting the wire to the 2 terminals or is this the actual connection. this black piece is solid. there is one terminal hookup that is burned somewhat that goes to the heater itself. normal? part of the problem?

hey daniel. i took off the fuse and hot wired the 2 wires and pushed start button and briefly the machine ran. i held the button in and then the motor sounded like it got bound up. and did not want to run. if i released the button the machine stopped. does this sound like the motor is shot?

When dryer won't heat or won't turn on or will behave as its behaving with you it means that the Thermal fuse which is located inside duct on the back has gone bad and should be replaced as it cannot be reset. If their is continuity when you check the fuse then it means that the control board is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Yes right sorry its located inside the back to the exhaust duct on the blower wheel housing.

Eric you can test the fuse for continuity between its two pins, if it tests open then replace the fuse. If you hear a hum like sound from the motor then it is the motor that is bad and should be replaced.

GE dryer starts but..... stops

What you describe is either a failed evenheat board or a failed motor relay.
Please post the complete model number from the machine and I can help you narrow it down. There should be a wiring diagram inside the console with voltage checks also.

Push start button the dryer will tumble, but immediately stops

there is a relay that latches on when you push the start button .. that relay is released by the "door open" switch .. i would suspect that the "door open" switch is bad .. thats usually a button that is pushed in when the door is closed ..

Kenmore Dryer 90 Series will start but suddenly stop...

what starts and stops? the entire dryer or maybe the drum? Do you do anything to make it restart other than pushing the start button? This initially sounds like a temperature switch is opening and resetting after it cools. If you can describe the problem a little more in detail it would help.

62802 stops running after a few minutes

It sounds as if you have a defective drive motor.  After the motor runs for a while and heats up, the internal thermal switch cuts it off before it gets too hot and becomes a hazard.  Once the motor cools down and the thermal switch makes up again, it will run and then repeat this process.
