Question about Yamaha Music

1 Answer

My Yamaha keyboard YPT-210 just stopped working one day. It won't turn on with either the AC/DC adapter nor with six fresh AA batteries. Any ideas?

This is likely a problem near the power input jack or the regulator. It requires opening the unit. If you are not electronically adept, best to take it to a shop for repair.

Yamaha YPT 400: ALL re are not working

Hi, If by "re" not working you mean note D then try the following.
Keyboard off, hold down top C key while turning on. This factory resets. Does D key now work - if not. Has it ever worked - if not then it could possibly be the ribbon connector between the keyboard and the motherboard. If one of the cables gets bent then this would stop all notes associated with that connection to stop working. This will only have occured if the keyboard has never played these notes or if it has been taken apart.

You could also try the self test mode : Keyboard off, hold C#,F, G# in the 2nd octave up whilst turning on, cycle through tests to sound if it plays all the notes one at a time then the sound chip is ok and it points to keyboard switching. If test mode does not come up in 2nd octave try 3rd octave ( cant remember which one it is from memory )

Let me know how you get on.

When I turn my yamaha YPT-320 on the panel lights up for 2 seconds then turns of any ideas

MY guess would be one of 2 things.

1) Power adapter faulty
2) Socket where adapter plugs in has a bad solder joint.

Turn on the keyboard and push the plug on the back of the keyboard up ( hold in upright position ) if it doesn't shut down / or alternatively doesn't work investigate solder connections to pcb for the socket. They often fail and break the track on the pcb. Repair as needed

Yahama PSRE413 Keyboard DC Adapter Issues

Yahama PSRE413 Keyboard DC Adapter Issues (1): First try battery power to ensure Synth works.
If it does, problem is most likely near DC socket, or socket contacts dirty / worn.
(2): Get a contact-cleaner spray (Servisol, McKenic, Kontakt, etc) and squirt into socket, then plug / unplug / twist DC plug to 'scrub' the contacts.
(3): Get a qualified tech to manually apply DC to the PCB solder-points which will verify if socket is faulty.

That's the thing with today's electronic and why warranty length is so important. Where did you buy your keyboard? It's strange that they won't fix it if it's still under warranty. My Casio CTK-2100 came with 1 year free service and they fix one key that stopped function in few days. I'm pretty sure Yamaha has the same warranty length. You sometimes have to be very persistent with them though...

Rechargeable batteries CANNOT be used in this, ONLY alkaline batteries. Rechargeable batteries are ACTUALLY lower volltage (about 1.25 instead of 1.5) that is very near the cutoff point for operation so even fully charged rechargeables last only minutes. Sorry you used "universal" adapter because either you chose wrong polarity or too high a voltage and fried the internal voltage regulator. It is repairable by repair facility.

I recently purchased a yamaha PSR-E223 YPT-220 keyboard from Argos.when we got it home and opened it there was no adaptor. We are unable to find the one we need. The manual states we need a PA-3C...

Does the user guide tell you should have got this adaptor along with the keyboard? Often there's a "what's in the box" page. They normally do include one.

I would suggest firstly going to Argos and getting a replacement or ask them to supply one. You'll need your receipt.

If not then any universal AC mains adaptor which can supply 12v DC and the correct plug (2.5mm) will do the job.

You should be able to get them from Maplins, Ebay or here's a web site:-
