Question about Apple iMac G4 Desktop

1 Answer

It won't turn back on

I was given a used Apple iMac G4 desktop with Ubuntu on it. It worked okey at first, but then while I was on the internet it would crash and then restart, after about 15 min it would do it again. And then the last time it restarted but now it takes longer and gets no farther the the black background/white letters command line looking thing. I should tell you I wasn't given any disks with the computer.

Change the power supply to start. If the supply does not fix it, the mother board may have a fault. Most of these types of failures are in the power supply.

Apple iMac G4 Mac Desktop - Screen turned Green!

Check your VGA connections (screen to desktop) then try a different screen (if available) if these fail then it might well be your graphics card, not unheard of with Apple, or so I'm told. Try another card if the machine allows that, preferably borrow or beg one as Apple stuff is expensive.

If you can find an older SVGA monitor, try hooking it up to the port on the back of your mac. If you get video then chances are the LCD display is shot.
