You either have a cover in your accessories pack, or there is a lever next to your bobbin case door. I suspect with the drop in bobbin that you have a little dark plastic cover to put over the feed dogs when you darn etc. Your manual should explain all of its uses. If, you didn't get a manual with your machine, call Singer and complain because it is a very important piece. Their number is 1-800-4singer. Make sure that you register your machine with them, also on their site Good luck and happy sewing.

Feed dogs up?

If the feed dog lever does not raise the feed dogs, then they are probably stuck. Probably needs lubrication. Since the make/model was not specified, would recommend taking it for service.

Can not raise feed dogs

They WILL come up for you, and here's how. You see, anytime you put the feed dogs down they go down right away. But when you put them up again, you have to turn the hand wheel TOWARDS YOU (ALWAYS TOWARDS YOU FOR ANYTHING) at least one or two times before the dogs come up again. You'll hear them "snap" into place, but until you do that, they won't move at all, on ANY machine I'm familiar with.

A word about pulling the hand wheel towards you. If you turn it away from you for more than one revolution, you run the risk of throwing off the timing. I was told this by a technician of many years experience many years ago.

Feet not feeding and thread bunching up

the presser foot or what ever foot your sewing with does not feed the
fabric,, the feed dogs in the needle plate are what moves the fabric
to be sewed, the feet only hold the fabric against feed dog so the
machine can use the needle to sew the fabric.
if the fabric is not moving then the feed dogs have to be checked
can you see the feed dogs in the needle plate area are the up or
do you have a manual for the machine?
a manual help to know where the feed dog lever is, I'm sending
you a link for a manual for the machine, so you can look for the feed
dog lever, if the feed dogs are up then there is something wrong
with the feed dogs & they need to be checked.
but if the feed dogs are down then look in the manual & see where
the feed dog lever is & put it in the up position & see if that brings
the feed dogs up to the sewing position, if the feed dogs do not
come up then the feed dogs need to be checked.

I put the feed dogs down and now they won't go back up, what do I do now?

The feed dogs are driven by the feed driver mechanism, turn the hand-wheel forward and the feed dogs will come up. (Providing you have the feed dog switch to the up position).

I have a Janome MYECEL 18W limited Ed. Put dogs

When you lower the feed dogs on this machine and then flip the lever back for the feed to come up again, the machine must turn a couple of turns to get the fedd up.

How do i put the feed dogs down on my machine?

A cover for feed dogs is available with sewing machine/ parts dealers.
It is is a simple stainless steel plate that sits above feed dogs but not quite touching them.

During use the feed dogs still move but yr cloth is resting on the cover only.

Feed dogs are down

You might have the machine on a setting that does not use the feed dog. Check your stitch setting and see if that helps.

Feed dog is stuck

I have the same problem...this is a work around, not a fix. You need a small flat-head screwdriver. 1. Remove the clear bobbin cover. 2. Make sure the feed dog switch is in the DOWN position. 3. Slide the screwdriver under the feeddogs from inside the bobbin area & lift the feed dogs. 4. While holding the feed dogs in the up position, return the feed dog knob to the up position. You have to do this every time you put the feed dogs down...bummer, but I can find no broken part or adjustment that corrects this. If it's inside the machine body, I don't mess with it... I did take off the bottom plate in the feed dog screw holds it.... there is nothing there to indicate a problem.
