Either way you will need a computer that has a DVD-Rom in order to load the DVD of Office. Here are a few solutions: 1. Get/borrow External DVD drive. 2. Insert DVD into another computer on the same network and share the DVD drive over the network. 3. Create an ISO file on a system with a DVD and mount the DVD in the mini notebook. Here is a free tool that does this http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/products/dtLite

Hello,

Since it is 2007, about the only thing you can do is to:

Use a regular computer and copy the entire CD onto a USB flash drive and then run the install from it on the mini. Keep the CD key to enter it when prompted.

(If it were the new 2010 version you could have downloaded that version frpm Microsoft and entered your CD key to activate it.)

Thanks for using Fixya.

The external DVD solution above is also a good idea.

insert the disc

click start all programs accessories open windows explorer you should see the disc right click on it select copy also you should be able to see your usb drive navigate to to it right click select paste

Copy the contents of the Office 2007 CD to a USB flash drive. Then plug the drive into a USB port on your notebook and run SETUP.EXE from there and the program will install normally. Another option is to use an external CD drive if you can borrow one, then just install the program from CD that way.

Can you install Office 2007 professional on a Dell 1018 mini?? I know there is a student version but i have a license for Office 2007.

Maybe.

The minimum requirements for Office 2007 call for a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/products/2007-microsoft-office-release-system-requirements-HA010166865.aspx#BM5

The specs. for your Dell say that the max. resolution is 1024 x 600:
http://www.reviewgist.com/specs/dell-mini-1018-dnpcfw2

Otherwise, Office 2007 has been known to run OK on W7.

I'd say set a restore point before installing it and give it a try.

There's always Open Office: http://www.openoffice.org/

Sorry, but that's not the case. Most DVD drives will read CD's, but most CD drives will not read DVDs, so unless yours specifically says it's a DVD drive, It's not going to work for you. HINT: the cost of a DVD drive is far less than the cost of Office software.
