Measure the inside or outside overall length of the belt. Either measurement will work as long as you know which side it is you measured. You will also need the width on the "top" edge, the edge that would be facing out from the pulley and the height from that same edge to the opposing narrow edge.

The old one likely has the part number embossed on the belt if you can find it; something like 4VL32 or B32 or something similar.

Your best bet for replacing it would be to take the old piece(s) to a local power transmission products dealer and they can match it up. Even auto part shops care some v-belts if you get lucky and it matches up with those used in automotive applications.

A typical v-belt is under ten dollars.

I need to know belt sizes

Best way is to buy a new belt as a spare part for your machine or a belt manufacturer might have a listing for your machine in an application catalogue.
Failing these options you will need to measure the old belt or around the pulleys in order to determine the size you need.

Suppliers of belts have a device to measure belts and so a worn belt can still have a valid measurement the belt is turned inside-out first.

If you have to measure around the pulleys don't forget to move the belt adjuster almost back to the starting point first and then measure around the root of the pulleys using none-stretch string or flexible wire and then measure around the top of the pulleys with a flat tape measure.
The approximate length of the belt you need will be half way between the two measurements. Finding the right cross section is more difficult as there is about 20 different types of vee belt sections and multiple other types available though a much smaller selection in common usage for small machines. Your local belt supplier will have a device which will identify which section you need from your old belt or from one of the pulleys or you can download a chart and measure a pulley yourself.

You will have to take a measurment and buy a shorter belt.. one way is to use a string going around all pullies.. then measure string and buy correct belt.

Need to buy belts

Most belts are universal. You only need to measure the diameter of the belt in mm and search Google for cassette drive belt xx mm. Generally you don't need to get the measurement spot on. A 52mm belt for example could be replaced by a 50mm or a 55mm.

Teac v 370 cassette deck belt

You need only to measure the diameter of the belt in mm. Then enter "cassette tape belt ??mm" into Google. They are universal. If you're measurement comes to say 53mm then a smaller belt of say 50mm will fit it.

Mke certain you make a note of how it fits before removing the belt.

General Electric boombox replacement belts

To order them from Akai will be expensive, take the belts down to a Tv repair shop and have them measure the belts with a belt gauge and buy what you need.

How install belt on pioneer turntable model PL. I tried slipping the belt on the inside ring and then to the pulley motor. but belt seems too loose and doesn't hold. is there an image how to do this? what...

The simple rule of thumb is after you lift up the turntable platter turn it upside down and see if the belt sits on the inner rim tightly. That is if you after putting the belt on the rim and shake it upside down the belt should not fall off. And if you want to measure the belt-- remove it and place it in cold water for an hour and then after wiping it clean place it on its flat side on a table ( best is glass surface ). Measure its length with out stretching it in centimeters and subtract about a centimeter from the total. This will give you a new belts measurement
Eg; If the belt measures 19cm, subtract 1cm from it and go buy an 18cm.belt for replacement.

Have a 10''band saw with 254mm blabe need to no the size of blade to replace / alum blade glide so i can replace montgomery ward 10''band saw belt drive

Your 10 inch saw takes a 59 inch blade, I think, it will say on the package if you buy from lowes or home depot, no matter what the thickness is, 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, You don't want to go any bigger than that. The belt for the drive is just a v-belt, measure the old one or get the number off it, or just measure the distance around the pulleys. Hope this helps.

I have a sanborn magna force 5hp air comp. The belt is missing and would like to know the length for replacement

The web address below will provide you with the information necessary to order a belt for your compressor. Check the model number first however to insure correct part.
http://www.mastertoolrepair.com/165tgc51b850tgb8p165tg51h850tgh8p-p-1454.html

I have replace the V belt on my compressor with an automotive type belt to save money (and better quality). I used a tape measure around both pulleys to get the length. Check the motor/compressor for adjustability as this will help when tightening the belt. If the motor/pump is already positioned all the way out, re-adjust to closed position and remeasure. Now for width of the belt; automotive belts are sold by length and width and use a common numbering system of five digits. The first two numbers printed on the belt refer to the width and the last three refer to length. Measure the width of the pulley grove. My pulley measured about 1/2" . Auto belts were available in 13/16", 15/16" and 17/16" widths. These belts are marked with first two numbers as 13 or 15 or 17. Next use the measurement around the two pulleys. My compressor measured 47 inches around the pulleys. So the automotive belt number for my compressor is 15470. If the measurement around the pulleys was 471/2" then the belt number would have been 15475. The last number refers to 1/2" either a (0) or a (5) Most autopart stores will ask you for the year and model of car for your belt but ask to see the belts with tape measure in hand and check for size using the numbering system for a guide. If your compressor uses a flat style belt you can buy from www.grainger.com. Measure around the pulleys the same way for length. Good Luck with your project.
