Acer Aspire One netbook freezes upon start up and will not shut down...still froze! Just got for Christmas this year. Only 3 months old.

Hi jenksjodikay,

If your system freezes up during boot up, a file in the OS might have been accidentally deleted or corrupted. You could also diagnose what happened on your system by checking if you have installed something new that caused the issue. There are several ways to resolve this, either you try to do a windows system restore or you reformat the system. But before reformatting your system you need to get all your data off the computer or else you will lose everything.

I recommend trying to do a system restore, it would help you to sort the problem out. Please follow the steps below:

1. Turn the computer on or just restart the computer.

2. After switching on the computer, start tapping the F8 key. "Windows Advanced Boot Options Menu" will appears. If you're not able to do so try restarting the computer and try again.

3. Now select the "Safemode Option".

4. Ensure that you press the enter button to select it. Computer will then begin to start in safemode.

5. Now click [Start] point to [All programs] go to [Accessories Folder] then [System tools] and click "System Restore".

6. On the "Welcome system restore" page, click the "Restore my computer to an earlier time" option then click next.

7. On the "Select a Restore Point page", click the most recent system restore point in the On this list, click a restore point list, and then click Next.
--> A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.

8. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click Next and it will restarts the computer.

Hope it helps,

Thank you for using FixYa.

When i try to boot my laptop the percent hits 90 and freezes

boot into safe mode, (repeatedly press F8 at power on)
Then try a regular boot.
if that doesn;t clear the stuck driver, then you may need to look at the system restore option

in safe mode, you can reset the computer back to the last few days.
look in accessories\system tools\system restore

Acer apire 3000 keeps freezing!

The first, best thing to do is to back up your data and do a system restore. Acer's have the restore function usually built into their acer system management software.

Restoring the computer will solve most issues. If you keep having issues after the restore you probably have a hardware error like a bad hard drive or bad memory.

Be sure to back up any important data as the restore will erase everything from the hard drive and set it back to the way it came from the factory

Good luck!

My Acer aspire 5100

If you are able, when the pc is booting up keep pressing F8, this will take you to safe mode and not allow the graphics driver to run. When in the safe mode options, select either Last known good configuration or start windows in safe mode. Last known good configuration should find the last good system settings, when it reboots. Start windows in safe mode allows you to go into windows using the administartor account, and then you should select system restore and restore back to the day before or just before you updated the graphics driver.
