If you can see a faint image on the screen, the fault is possibly with the screen inverter.(possibly the screen backlight)
Try testing the laptop on an external monitor, that way you eliminate any issues that may lie with the graphics chip.
After that, and if this works, you will need to have the screen and inverter checked by a qualified technician as it is likely the problem lies there. Ther might also be an issue with the VGA cable to the screen. I'd check that there are no trapped wires from the body of the laptop to the lid too, unlikely if it has not been disassembled, but worth checking

My laptop screen is blank after turning it on.I'm using Windows 7 2010 model Intel

Look close at the screen with a flashlight and if you can see anything on it, the inverter or the backlights is out. IT could also be the cable that runs from the screen to the motherboard. They break from opening and closing the lid. If you post the make and model number, I can give you a better idea

Black screen when turned onno display

There are several reasons that your Toshiba laptop screen may not come on, even if the laptop appears to be running, and several options you may try to get your screen back up and running without an expensive service call.

Common causes for a blank screen include a backlight that is turned off, a display toggled to an external monitor and improper shutdown errors.

To avoid blank screen errors after your current error is fixed, make sure to follow all instructions in your user's guide to care for your Toshiba computer.

Shine a flashlight directly at your screen and look for an image.

If you see one, this means the backlight on your laptop is off but the screen is still working. This backlight normally turns off only when your screen is closed.

Look for a small metal or plastic pin near one of the screen hinges.

The screen pushes this pin in when it is closed, so if the pin is stuck in the screen closed position, the backlight will remain off.

Tap the pin several times to release it.

You may need to use a small object, such as a pencil tip or straightened paper clip, to reach it on some models.

Monitor Toggle

Press and hold down the "Fn" key if you do not see an image when you use the flashlight.

Tap the "F5" key several times while the "Fn" key is pressed.

This will cycle your screen through the various options that toggle the display to an external monitor.

Attach an external monitor, restart the computer and try this method again if no image appears on the laptop screen.

Click "Start," "Control panel," "Hardware and sound," then "Device manager "using the external monitor if you get an image there but cannot toggle the image back to your LCD.

Select the "Monitor" option to expand your selection and select your LCD monitor from the device list.

Click the "Driver" tab and select "Update" to update the driver, as this error is likely caused by a software driver error.

Force Restart

Press and hold the power button until the computer shuts down completely.

Check the indicator lights at the edge of your laptop to see if the computer is truly off or if it has simply gone into hibernation mode.

If it is off, all lights will be off except the battery-related lights if you have a charger plugged in. In hibernation mode, the power light will blink slowly.

Press the power button to restart the computer again after leaving it off for 15 to 20 seconds. This may fix the problem.

If the blank screen returns or you get a flash of images and then a blank screen, move on to the next step.

Force Power Down

Unplug your laptop from the power source.

Remove the battery by pressing outward on the battery latch and pulling the battery unit completely out of the computer.

Press the power button several times to completely discharge the computer.

Replace the battery and plug the computer back in after about 30 seconds.

Press the power button to turn on the computer.

If you get an error screen upon startup, choose to restart Windows normally.

This error is caused by improper shutdown procedures.

Hope this helps

My laptop screen is not showing but upon using another screen its showing enter password

You do not how old your machine is....there are two situations that are most likely to cause your issue, both deal with the backlighting of the LCD.
The first, and most simple, is the little switch that sticks up in the back area of the laptop near the hinge. This switch closes and turns off the backlighting when you close the lid of the laptop. If this switch sticks or breaks it can cause this problem. Look very carefully at the "blank" LCD. If you can see what looks like shadows of the actual display there, then the display is on the LCD, but the backlighting needed to see it not present. The second issue is an age issue, The backlighting source (on older machine a fluorescent lamp) may have failed. If this is the case, repair or replace the machine.

Has a Toshiba Tecra 9000 won't power up. Power light on front is blanking which appears to be a code 3-3-2

The problem is cause due to one of the following: the backlight or the display, check your monitor brightness settings. Sometimes your brightness may accidentally have been all the way turned down, resulting in a blank/dark screen. The monitor controls are on the keyboard, directly above the numeric keys.
Look closely at your laptop's screen if the steps do not restore power to it and if it remains blank. Can you see a faint image on the screen? If so, the backlight may be off due to the LCD "lid close" detector malfunctioning. This malfunction likely happened due to the lid close switch being stuck in the "closed" position even though the lid is open. The switch is located beside the LCD's screen hinges, and tapping the switch a few times should unstick it.
Use an S-Video cable and plug your laptop up to an external monitor, such as your television set. With the laptop and TV hooked up, turn both on and see if your computer's desktop is displayed on the TV. You can also use a fifteen ( 15 )pin monitor desktop monitor by connecting it to the blue fifteen ( 15 ) connector at the side of the laptop if you cannot see anything on screen it is the display problem. If it is, your laptop's display needs to be replaced. If not, your motherboard and/or video subsystem may need to be completely removed and replaced.

Computer works fine but has a blank screen. I have it hooked up to a monitor right now and it is fine except for the blank screen.

can you see anything on the screen at all? Look very closely at the screen from different angles under a strong light and see if you can see a faint image on it. If you do it means the back-light is not turning on which is usually a failed inverter board (cheap and easy fix). If you can't see anything at all on the screen then either the cable is not seated properly or is bad (not very common) or the screen itself went out (more expensive repair)

Blank screen upon powering up

First try resetting the PRAM - Hold Command + Option + P + R until u hear a chime.

If that doesn't work, apply firm pressure about 1 inch below the option + command and start the iBook, it takes the iBook to turn on the screen approx. 30 seconds.
