ok, took wand off, blew air through it. turned machine on and when light came on I turned the dial to turn on the steamer.
steam came out at a fairly high pressure but quickly the pressure dropped to almost zero (say 5% to 10%).
    Next check?

Hi.

Heating and release of steam is usually regulated by a pressure switch, that will probably need to be replaced. The explanation is very general and may not apply to the specific model. To be more specific I need to know make and model of the steamer.

Regards.

Ginko.

    Hi.

The problem was originally posted in steam washer. I am glad to see that the problem is concering a Saeco espresso maker.

If problem is steamer only, then start checking the steam wand and the valve at the end of the steam wand. The valve is operated by the steamer knob mechanism. This parts may get clogged and may result in no steam getting out of the wand. Steam valve parts must be checked and eventually replaced.

If apart from having no steam you also have no water pressure with brew being cold and/or watery, then the problem is different. In that case perform a complete descaling. Scale on top of thermostat and membrane sensor may preventing chamber from reaching the right temperature and pressure. If descaling does not help, then parts like pump, element and thermostat must be tested and eventually replaced. The thermostat for steam are the 127C and 175C ones.

Here all parts and diagrams for Barista.

Next check is taking apart the machine, removing the steamer valve connected to the knob. See the schematics in my previous comment.

Before doing anything else perform a complete descaling.

Also remember that disassembling invalidates warranty. I assume that machine is not covered by warranty anymore.

I need a manual for the oreck floor steamer

Hi! Since you didn't mention the model type of your floor steamer, i'm giving you the link where you can see the user's guide for all oreck floor steamers. So, access this link (http://www.oreck.com/Owners-Guides) and go to the floor machines category (under electric brooms).
I hope this will work for you! Have a nice day!

Hi -- For my White Wing Steam Cleaner: After I plug in the unit, and wait over 10 minutes, the Pressure gauge shows that the pressure at 2 (maybe 2.5, I can't recall as I'm typing today) -- not...

Re: Low pressure on WhiteWing steam cleaner
1. Make sure the safety switch for the hose handle on the right side of the hose handle is turned to the closed position. To do that, push it away form the hose.
2. Make sure the steam release button (next to the on/off button on the control panel on the steamer) is in the Off position.
3. Make sure the safety cap is tightened.
4. Make sure you have enough water in the tank (at least half a bottle of water)
I hope this helps.

The steam in my handheld steam shot does not seem to be very hot therefore the surfaces, specially cloth ones do not get clean properly. What should I do?

If it steams it is as hot as it is going to get. Water steams at 212 degrees F at sea level so the only way to increase that heat is to pressurize that steam to a higher density than sea level which is about 32lbs per sq. in. Your steamer has no method to pressurize that steam to increase that heat. Conversely, as the pressure decreases, say you live in Denver which is about 5000 ft above sea level, then that steam will only get to about 203 degrees F. (See: http://whatscookingamerica.net/boilpoint.htm) Steam Cleaning at best is a poor method of cleaning as all it does is saturate the clothing item with water, which in theory loosens dirt, but no way is provided to remove the dirt. A rug shampooer has a vacuum that sucks the dirt away from the carpet along with the suds for a better cleaning method. In my opinion a hand steamer will only remove wrinkles at best.

if you use it for more than an hour theres an automatic kill switch located on the inside designed to make you buy another one , but you can take it apart and hardwire it to bypass that kill switch , and your steamer will work once again.
