They can but economically depends on the value of the unit and the make and also if the parts are avalible to buy. Normally the gears can be replaced by buying kits offline. The gears are normally attached using a Cir-clip round ring holder or a split pin, should be straight forward repair.

Indesit w123. motor burnt out?

If your seeing flashes from behind the dial I'm thinking that the timer needs to be changed. Even with the motor shorted out, it still wouldn't cause that effect to happen.

Timer works ,but when start is pushed the turntable doesn't turn

Replacement of the turntable motor should be carried out by a qualified appliance repair service.

YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT!

Attempt this only if you are competent.

But here is a basic method if you are mechanically minded and have electrical safety knowledge.

I am assuming the plastic coupler is not split or broken and causing the problem.

The motor assembly is fixed to the base of the oven usually with two screws and access is obtained usually by removing the inspection plate directly beneath the motor. It is usually a plug in synchronous motor that revolves at a few revs per minute but the plastic cogs in the motors gear box fail and the motor assembly must be replaced. They are fairly inexpensive and obtainable usually from a domestic appliance repair shop.
If you feel confident, disconnect it from the mains power, remove anything in the cavity and turn it upside down if it is a tabletop model, a little more complicated if it is built in!
Remove the inspection plate, sometimes it must be cut out with sharp cutters, and disconnect the motor. Remove the motor and go and get a new one. Fit the new motor and fit the inspection cover back on the base by turning it to fit and using an extra screw fix it then put the microwave back in its position. Plug it back in, with the turntable and plate. Put a cup of water on the plate inside of the oven and heat for 20 seconds to check the plate goes round.
Hope this helps.

My timer manual switch works,it turns the outside lights on and off. However the automatic dial, even when plled out and set to time to operate does not work. What 's going on? Isit me?

The two tabs are for On ad OFF.
One is slightly longer than the other. If the OFF tab is in the ON location, it won't work, it'll just click past the time and not flip the paddle to ON.

Try this, turn the dial (NOT pulled out) around slowly and see if it flips the paddle to ON. Keep turning it, slowly, and see if it flips to OFF.
If it works while you're "helping it" then it should work automatically. If it doesn't, maybe the gear is damaged and it can't move past a certain point.

Does the time move? Do you hear the motor running? I've seen the motors go bad. The manual flipping will work then, but the motor isn't running the clock around.

My t1004r timer does not run any more. The manual switch still works. The problem may be due to rain getting inside. Does the whole unit needs to be changed out?

If manual override works, then timer is basically sound.

1) If dial does not rotate, then replace clock motor: T104 timer uses 240Volt clock motor. T101 and T103 use 125Volt clock motor

2) If dial rotates, but trippers are missing or trippers are worn down and no longer click on-off lever, then buy new trippers.
T100 series trippers and clocks are shown following link:
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/timer-accessories/timers/electrical/ecatalog/N-8hi

3) If you have different timer than T101-103-104, then add a comment.

4) Clock motors are located on back of mechanism.
Mechanism snaps out with thumb spring located top inside box.
Clocks have identifying numbers: google search for that clock number if different that shown above.

5) If you buy new timer, then specify T104R.
R suffix is for raintight box.

6) Add a comment for more free help.
Also take advantage of fixya phone service.
For a price, fixya expert speaks with you over phone while you work on timer or any do-it-yourself project.

Need manual to set timer

You posted under T-100 series outdoor timer
If you have different timer, add a comment with timer model number located inside cover.

T-104, T-103, T-101 timer manuals show on following page:
If your timer has R suffix, like T-101R, that means box is Raintight for outdoor use.
T-101R and T-101 mechanisms are identical except for box. T-101 box is indoor use.
Click model number and drop-down menu reveals link to manual
http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/mechanical%20time%20switches/24%20hour%20dial.aspx

If you need simple wiring diagrams, and explanation for each T-104, T-103, T-101 timer:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-T104-Intermatic-timer.html

Here's how to set Intermatic T100 series timers:
Lift and rotate yellow dial until current time lines up with silver pointer.
Silver pointer is stationary at 6 o'clock position.
Put ON-OFF trippers on dial at times you want ON OFF functions.
Minimum on-off is 1 hour because of tripper width.
If timer is not working, add a comment and we'll troubleshoot.

These timers have replacement trippers and clock motors at Grainger
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/timer-accessories/timers/electrical/ecatalog/N-8hi

How timer works:
Clock motor, located on back of mechanism, rotates yellow dial.
Trippers on dial push lever that turns power ON and OFF.
Off tripper pushes lever one direction.
ON tripper pushes lever opposite direction.
When lever is pushed, manual override lever clicks back and forth with audible click sound.

The on/off lever on my t103r has worn down , and the timer dial posts no longer switch it on and off . can i replace that part . thank you , Don Henrichsen / Sherman Oaks , California

I think trippers have worn down.
Tripper are made of softer metal than on-off lever.
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/INTERMATIC-Timer-Tripper-2E054?Pid=search
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/timer-accessories/timers/electrical/ecatalog/N-8hi

That being said, if you have gone through several trippers and timer is old, then on-off lever can wear out.
Except for 125V clock motor and on-off trippers, there are no repair parts for T-103.
Buy new T103 and swap mechanisms without changing box.
That way you don't have to buy more expensive T-103R outdoor timer.
Mechanism snaps out with metal spring located at top inside box.

I purchased T-103 last week from Lowes.
Surprised that Lowes carried all 3 T-100 series timers:
T-101 125V with terminals A 1 2
T-103 125V with capability of controlling 120-or-240V circuits with terminals A 1 2 3 4
T-104 240V with terminals A 1 2 3 4

If timer has been working fine up until now, you probably need a new tripper pin
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/INTERMATIC-Timer-Tripper-2E054?Pid=search

If lever is worn out, then you need new timer.
You can but a T-101 and swap insides without changing box
The T-103 will also work because it has a 120V clock motor
The T-104 is a 240V timer and will not work
You can buy the replacement timer mechanism and swap out

http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/INTERMATIC-24-Hour-Dial-Timer-Mechanism-2E354?Pid=search
http://www.lowes.com/T-103

When wiring new timer, put wires back the same as old timer

Timer is working but stops but stops at the on and off points like it don't have enough power to engage switch, timer is less then year old.

c92bcf0.jpg
The pins push the lever.

New T-104 comes with a bit of white grease on the lever.

The lever is connected to the manual override.
Click the manual override back and forth. It should click firm and crisp.
If the manual override is sluggish or it sticks, then timer might be bad ... buy a new T-104 and snap the new insides into the box without changing out the box ... and if you bought it at the local store, then return the new timer with the old insides.

If the manual override works crisp and clean, then the clock motor may be bad.
Clock motors and Intermatic timers run for years, but the clock gears are plastic.
You can buy a T-100 series 240Volt clock motor at WW Grainger for $16
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/INTERMATIC-Time-Clock-Motor-1PNK2?Pid=search
I think you need a small star screwdriver to change clock motor

Finally, the main dial gears are steel. If timer is exposed to moisture and dirt, the gears can get rusty and that might cause dial to stall. Snap out the insides and clean out the dirt, spray a bit of WD-40. Turn off electricity because WD-40 is extremely flammable.

Up-vote if this information helped. Thanks for the feed back.
