You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction.
You can also create a set to Recovery disk from the recovery partition, to do so

Start Menu> All Programs> Acer erecovery management> Click Create Factory Default Disk, if you receive any error code or unable to burn the disk, please contact Acer Technical support at 1 800 816 2237 and order for an Recovery Disk.
NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

I am sorry to hear regarding the trouble.

This is a common problem with Acer. You need to press at the same time the two keys Alt and F10 when you see the Acer logo appearing.You might have to do it twice or thrice. You would be able to see the recovery management screen and then you could follow and restore the same.

To be sure that nothing is preventing the machine from accessing the hard drive and successfully boot to windows, remove all devices attached to the notebook. If this does not work, chances are, you might have a corrupted windows.

If you have already backup your important files (which every laptop owner should do), you can just simply reset the machine back to factory settings.

To restore Acer Aspire 1 D260-A to factory settings: press Alt+F10 when you boot up the laptop. You will see Acer Recovery Management, select "restore system to factory default settings" then follow the instructions.

Go to acer recovery.This can be done by hitting Alt & F10 together as soon as the computer starts.
Hit hard disc recovery.
Follow the instructions and this will format the drive and reinstall the factory settings. hope this helps

According to the Acer website:
1. Turn system on
2. Immediately press ALT and start tapping F10. Continue holding down ALT and tapping F10 as the unit boots up.
3. A screen stating "Starting Acer Recovery" should appear.
(release ALT and stop tapping F10)
4. There will be 4 options;
1. Restore to factory default
2. Restore from user backup
3. Restore from CD/DVD
4. Exit
