Click on the 'Disable' radio button to disable the touchpad completely. That's it. You've disabled your laptop's touchpad for good. If you don't find an option to manage your touchpad in Mouse settings, you have to install Synaptics drivers from here. Similar options can be found in other laptops as well.

How do i disable the touch pad on my Dell Lattitude E5400 laptop? Thanks, Tom tc@tc-talent.com 917-733-5968

Hi,

You can turn off the touch pad through the mouse settings in the Control Panel. I was a little frustrated by this too, but if you go to the Control Panel and click 'Mouse', the first tab of this new window is 'Dell Touchpad'. Simply click anywhere in that window and you'll be able to configure the touch pad settings. One great option for many people is 'Disable Touchpad/Pointing Stick when external USB mouse is present' as there is no easy one-button solution to disable it.

My my touchpad doesnt worrks

----- control panel - mouse - see if touch pad disabled there ----- have a look in the bios/setup and see if the touch pad is disabled there, as the PC boots - you should see which key to use to enter the bios/setup F2, F10, DEL KEY are often used ----- On some machines a combination of FN and F key can disable/enable the touch pad - F7 or F9 ----- If you point the mouse to the top of the screen you may get a menu dropdown, which will also tell which key to use to disable/enable the touchpad ----- control panel>system>{vista}lefthand side device manger or {XP}hardware>Device Manager>Mouse and other pointing devices>Touchpad>highlight touchpad and right click, Properties, option here to Disable,

How do I disable the touchpad?

Try disabling the touch pad in the device manager. If that don't work unplug it from the motherboard. You will have to take the bezel and the keyboard off to unplug the touch pad.

Inspiron 1545 "t"key randomly opens new tabs

This is caused by the touchpad zoom feature; when it is enabled, brushing the touchpad registers a pressing of the ctrl key. Disable touchpad zoom and this behavior should stop occurring.
