If you go to the ECS website, under the drivers and manuals links you will find a manual download, on about page 5 or 6, there is a schematic of the motherboard, showing the Front Panel headers,a nd this will show you where the activity led connector goes

MCP61M-M3 V7.1 no boot

difficult, did you try 32 bit on the HDD?, if this fails to, then the IDE/SATA controller on the board or the traces that link the controller to the southbridge may be damaged, if you have one, or can afford one, try a new board, if this fails, then it's your hard disk!

What THIS expert(?) needs, is apparently learn how to look at ALL problems, stated by the asker!

Elitegroup Computer Systems Support > ECS A55F-M3 mobo > Main Support page,

Scroll down a little, click on the Download tab.
(Overview / Specification / Features / Download / etc)

Click on the Manual heading.
(Driver / BIOS / Manual)

To the right of Download, click on the country NAME nearest yours.

A small window will come up -
Opening A55F-M3

Make SURE there is a Green dot in the small circle, to the left of Save File.
If not; click in the empty circle to the left of - Save File.
Then go below in the small window, and click on OK.

At the bottom of the next 3 small windows, click on -

In the last small window DOUBLE-click on the file name -
,next to the red Adobe PDF icon.

There is the motherboard manual in PDF file form.

The Adobe Reader PDF page number, and the actual manual page number; are Not the same. When I refer to a page number, it is the Adobe PDF page number. (Top of PDF file to the right of the Down Arrow)

Go to Page 9 - Motherboard Layout [ Motherboard Components ]
The number 10 points to the Front Panel header -

Motherboard installed in computer case, (Processor to Top; Ram Memory slots to the Right), the Front Panel header is the third header from the Right.
Two white SATA connectors, then black Front Panel header.

Front Panel header pinout is on Page 27.
Two rows of contact pins.
The pins on the Top row are numbered EVEN.
The pins on the Bottom row are numbered ODD.

Starting on the LEFT side going towards the Right; Top row,
Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8. There is NO Pin 10.

Starting on the LEFT side going towards the Right; Bottom row,
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED. (Light)
Pin 1 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the HDD LED is dim when the harddrive is active, switch the wires around.

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for a Reset switch, IF a Reset switch is used.

C) Pin 9 is N/C. Not Connected.
