Question about Video Game Consoles & Games

1 Answer

We have just bought a Playstation 3 and for some reason we cannot connect it to the tv. (We have a Matsui, bought in 1998)The scart lead supplied with the PS3 does not fit in the back of the tv, but it does fit in the back of the virgin media set top box. This however does not seem to work. What are we doing wrong? Do we need to buy a new tv?

There is a problem with your TV scart whole
get a standrd scart plug and see if that will fit in
there may be some dirt in it
make sure the pins on the scart plug arn't bent at all

I was using my ps 3 on my plasma tv connected by a HD lead. I then hooked it up to another tv using a scart lead and now it won't work. I hooked it back up to the plasma tv and it works fine. I need it to...

Got to settings in the PS3 Crossbar and go to display settings. The first one should say video output settings, click on it. It should say your connection type is HDMI. Select component/D Terminal and hit change. The screen should go blank. During this time plug it in to your other t.v by the scart. It should say "Can you read this screen?" hit yes and there you go. To go back to HDMI do the same.

Bought my ps3 when it came out been really good till naw . it will switch on disc will go in everything sounds like it works but i get no picture tried a new scart lead and still nothing.

  • If the video output settings on the PLAYSTATION®3 do not match those of the cable or TV in use, there may be no picture. If the screen goes blank, turn off the system.
  • Then, with only the PLAYSTATION®3 and the TV connected, touch the system's power button for more than 5 seconds to turn the system back on. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.
  • This is from playstations website Hope this helps.

Hi, my playstation turns on & sounds ok, the lights come on but the picture on the tv no longer comes on. i have a feeling it may be the scart lead but why would it break all of a sudden? if that is...

Hi, usually scart leads depending on their quality tend to break when been moved , unplugged or constantly adjusted, try a different scart cable and see what happens but the most likely cause is the scart.

I just bought a PS3 from someone who doesnt have the user manuals. Im not sure how to connect it to my tv. I connected the HDMI cable. Is there something else I have to do?

you have to tell the tv to expect a hd signal just like changing extentions with scart leads. you will have options for hdmi 1-2-3 etc.
once you get a picture go through ps3 settings carefully.
