Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I bought a Samsung Home Cinema HT6930 in France,as I live in Paris. It came locked to DVD Region 2 and BlueRay Region B. As I have many DVDs and BR from other Region, I want to unlock my Home Cinema for my personal use. How to proceed to the unlocking?

At end of step 12 the player didn't enter in Standby. I have tried many times. Any guess?

    Dear ginko

I have followed your receipt. In the step 12, the player does not enter in Standby, and the region code doesn't change.
    Any guess ?

Hi.

The one below is the only region hack that is known being working on Samsung HT models. It has not been tested on the HT-6930, but it will probably work. There is no other known working hack for this model. Hack from DVD Reviewer:

1. Disconnect your player from its power source for thirty seconds 2. Reconnect your player to its power source 3. Press the Power On button on your remote control 4. Press the Enter button on your remote control 5. Press the 8 button on your remote control 6. Press the 4 button on your remote control 7. Press the 2 button on your remote control 8. Press the 6 button on your remote control 9. Press the 9 button on your remote control 10. Press the Enter button on your remote control 11. Your player should now place itself in Standby mode 12. Press the Power On button on your remote control

    Hi.

Usually I do not like guessing :)

As stated unfortunately there is no known hack for the HT-6930. The only known hack works only on few Samsung HT models. If there is a different combination of keys, that hasn't been found yet. Many BRD players, including many Samsung do not have any hack if not re-flashing or even replacing the chip. See if this hack for the similar 6950W works.

This website publishes all the known hacks.

This website publishes all the known hacks. There is none listed.

A an example I quote some procedures that work on Samsung BD-C5500 models.

See below how many different combinations of keys for one single model. Typing keys randomly for too long may mess up the player.

    1. Ensure that there is no disk in the tray.

    2. Switch the player off and then back on. This is necessary to clean-boot the firmware.

    3. Wait until the main menu page appears and the player stops doing anything.

    4. Press the eject button to open the tray. (The button is between
the "Power" and "TV Power" buttons at the top of the controller.)

    5. Press the eject button to close the tray.

    6. Wait while the player searches for a disk.

    7. As soon as the "No Disk" message appears at the top left corner do the following.

    8. Press the REPEAT button - just above the TV channel selector at the bottom right of the controller.

    9. Enter 7 6 8 8 4 on the number pad.

    10. The region code "4" should appear at the top left corner of the screen.

    11. Enter a "9" to make the player region free. (Enter a region code
if you want to lock the player to another region for some obscure or
    perverse reason.)

    12. Power down and power up again.

    13. Play a foreign DVD to verify the change.

Now the tricky bits. This process is timing dependent.

Firstly, you must start entering the code just after the "No Disk"
message is shown and before the message disappears. If you jump the gun
or miss the boat (isn't English great!) it won't work.

Secondly, the REPEAT key is part of the code. All six keys must be
entered smoothly as "REPEAT 7 6 8 8 4". The entry gets timed out so you
can't stop in the middle and restart. Don't bash away like crazy, just
    do it smoothly and briskly.

If you don't see the "4" the first time, don't worry. Just repeat
the process. It took me about a dozen tries before I got it to work.

I can't guarantee that this player does not have a region change
counter so I would be a bit careful about changing regions back and
forth. I also can't guarantee that this will work with all released
firmware. Samsung seems to take this crazy region bastardry very
    seriously for some reason.

For people from other parts of the world, all region codes are as follows

    1 - 2 9 3 3 4

    2 - 5 7 5 3 8

    3 - 5 6 7 3 2

    4 - 7 6 8 8 4

    5 - 5 3 8 1 4

    6 - 2 4 4 6 2

I just bought a philips hts3510 home cinema and i just found out that it doesnt take any dvds with region 1. Is this the fact that these years such dvd players do not support multi region dvds?? Im very...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_region_code

"The commercial DVD player specification requires that a player to be sold in a given place not play discs encoded for a different region".

If you don't live in Region 1 and you know most DVD's ARE Region 1, it would make sense that some care should be taken to buy DVD's compatible with YOUR region.

We have a Samsung Digital Home Cinema System that will only play DVDsfrom Zone 4 and we have several DVDs from Zone 2. Can you help? MJ

Most DVD played do NOT allow you to change the region, but look up the model number and "change region" and if it can be done it will come up, But frankly I don't think it will, to play muli region discs you have to get a multi region player.

I cant get my samsung home cinema system to play through my t.v

I bought the optical audio cable ($15 WalMart) and use the Digital In on the DVD player to play the sound through the surround system and turned the TV speakers off. Works great! The optial audio has square ends and looks transparent with just one round shaped cable that goes from the TV to the back of the DVD player.
