My gogear player always says " failed to update firmware on the device". What should I do to repair my gogear?

Hi,
via this link you can download the Philips Device Manager:

http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?slg=en&scy=ua&mid=Link_Software&ctn=SA3125/02

Install the software on to your PC and try to connect the device to the usb port. If the PC doesn't see the device you should download the firmware upgrade software from this link also and use the "repair function" of the Device Manager. In this case you should not forget press and hold the recovery key of your player when connecting to the PC. The recovery key is the PLAY button.
With this you can repair your player.
I hope I could help you,
Thanks.

I was loading music and the device got stuck while transmitting. . I disconnected it and it just says Philips on screen, I pushed reset and it still says same thing.

Hi masonrechell,

You may want to attempt a Repair - this process will update the firmware as well as restore the device to factory settings. I am not sure what model you have, but the Philips Support Site has a lot of valuable resources (www.philips.com/support).

Simply enter your model number to be taken to the product specific page:

Hope this helps...if so, let me know by rating and commenting this solution!

REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS:

Your player might hang up. Use a pen tip or other sharp object to insert the RESET hole gently on the side of the player and connect it again to your PC.
If it is still not recognized, your player may be at fault. Try the Philips Device Manager software.

NOTE: Contents will be removed by using the repair function.
  1. Install the Philips Device Manager and run it with your player connected to your PC. You can download it under the Software & drivers section.
  2. Click the Repair tab in the Device Manager, press and hold the corresponding recovery key on the player when connecting it to your PC.

  3. Follow the PC screen to recover your player.
You can find the recovery key on your player from the below table.

It seemed to be playing fine this morning in the car, but when I disconnected it, it just froze and now it won't do anything. What's next?

Try doing a soft reset.
  1. Insert a small pin or unfolded paperclip into the reset hole located at the back of the player.
  2. Hold until the player shuts down.
  3. Power on the player again by using the Power on/off key.
Note: Your songs and data will not be lost or corrupted by a soft reset.
If soft reset does not work, then you may have to use the Device Manager to recover your player:
  1. If you have not already installed the Device Manager, follow the on screen instructions to install the Device Manager from the installation CD or download the latest version of the Device Manager application from http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=SA6045/37&scy=us&slg=en and scrolling down the right side where it says device manager/firmware updater.
  2. Make sure all other applications Windows Media Player or Windows Explorer that access the device are closed or else Device Manager will not recognize the device. Launch the Device Manager at Start->Programs->Philips Device Manager on y our PC. Select the REPAIR tab on the dialogue box.
  3. Power off the player. Press and hold the "+" key and then connect it to the PC until you are prompted to release the key.
  4. Select the device name SA60xx and then click OK and REPAIR. IMPORTANT: All music & content of your device will be erased once the Player is repaired.
  5. Once the repair is complete a dialogue box will pop up; click OK and unplug the Player from the computer.
    1. The Device Manager will close automatically once the success message is displayed. Close all opened application and then unplug your device.
Once the Player is disconnected from the computer, the display will show “Firmware Upgrading” for a couple of seconds and then start up as usual.

Failed to upload firmware in device.

Connect your player to the pc that has the Philips device manager running, then reset the player by holding the off-switch and the volume-+ (plus) switch.
As soon as the player shuts off, press and hold the volume- - (minus) switch. The Philips device manager will recognize the player now, and recommend a repair, do so.

Phillips go gear 4g file system fail

There are only a few things you can try:
1) Reset the player (won't resolve)
2) Run a Repair in the Philips Device Manager
3) Run an Update in the Philips Device Manager

Download the newst version of the Philips Device Manager:
www.usasupport.philips.com - change your country/language as needed
Enter in your exact model #
Click on the link for your exact model #
Click on the Software & Drivers section
Click on "Firmware Upgrade Software"
Install the new Device Manager
Open and run the "Repair" tab

If these methods fail to resolve the problem, call Philips and see if you are eligible for an in-warranty replacement.
