Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
I saw your answer to Mamastamps concerning the problem that she was having with the return on her IBM Selectric II typewriter. I cannot find the spring you referred to in your answer.
It is under the right dust shield. The one that has the yellow lable.Once you get it off turn on the t.w. The hub just to the right of the center frame has a large torque spring with a small spring about an inch long that hooks on the end of that large spring, the small one has a hook on the end. If its missing or broken thats the problem. It also could need the spring that the shoe presses against cleaned. squirt some alchohol on it while its turning. get it between the white plastic shoe and the spring that rotates on the shaft.
