ITunes.exe has been set to run in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. For best result, turn off compatibility mode of iTunes before you open it.

> 1. Make sure iTunes isn't running.
2. Click Start, type regedit, then press Enter.
3. Navigate to this Registry location:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
4; Its better you clean/repair Windows registry with RegInOut.
4. Look in the main pane for a key that refers to iTunes. If you find one, delete it, then exit the Registry.
5. Start iTunes. The offending message should be gone!

To fix this, go to: Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Settings (under performance) > DEP (tab) and then add your program as an exception.

Window Vista problem??

If you receive this error message or encounter difficulties when attempting to launch Pro Tools using Windows Vista disabling DEP may solve the problem.

This option disables "Data Execution Prevention", a feature of Windows that can sometimes cause errors. This won’t harm anything, but also isn’t always necessary.

How to Disable DEP:

1. Click "Start"
2. Click "All Programs"
3. Click "Accessories"
4. Right Click on "Command Prompt"
5. Left click on "Run as Administrator"
6. Click the Allow button if it asks you for permission
7. Type or copy and paste this into the command prompt window:

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

8. Hit enter and you should see the confirmation: Operation Completed Successfully
9. Reboot and DEP should be off.

If you would like to re-enable DEP enter the following into the command prompt window:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn

Hit enter and you should see the confirmation: Operation Completed Successfully. After restarting the computer, DEP will be re-enabled.

Installing AVG 8.5 on Windows XP professional getting error 0xc0070002. What is the fix?

Your computer's processor blocked an activity of a program by stopping the computer from working to prevent the activity from being executed (also known as DEP or Data Execution Prevention) and giving such error instead.
Try turning off the DEP for all programs by:
- opening Start > Control Panel > System
- Click on 'Advanced' tab
- In the performance area, click 'Settings' button
- A new window will appear
- Click on 'Data Execution Prevention' tab
- Click on the upper radio button (run DEP only for Windows services)
- Restart your computer

If it doesn't work or is turned off for all programs already then there seems to be a problem with your Windows (since you said that IE takes 100% CPU process), or the antivirus program isn't really compatible with your hardware and/or driver software.

Windows data execution prevention won't allow itunes to open!

ok try this then.
Press [windows]+Pause/Break to open the system menu (or control panel -> system) and press advanced systems settings on the side. Go to the advanced Tab, and press settings. Go over to the D.E.P. (Data Execution Prevention) tab, and press add, then add in iTunes and whatever else you need.

Itunes wont open

I would first try shutting down every process in Task Manager (hold down: Ctrl / Alt / Delete keys) that isn't necessary to run your computer. Next, if that didn't make it run properly, try installing iTunes while in safe mode. You'll have to consult your computer's instructions for entering safe mode. If that doesn't fix it, you may have to re-install Windows (I've assumed that you're running Windows).

Itunes with vista

From what I understand, iTunes is not recognizing the iPod, because Windows does not recognize it. Choose to install the driver, set it to search for a driver in "C:\Windows". It should find a USB Mass Storage Driver, an iPod Driver, and a USBusEnumerator. Choose the iPod Driver, and if that doesnt work, try the USB Mass Storage Driver, and then the USBusEnumerator. If Vista gives you a memory error, reboot your computer and try the iPod Driver again.

Windows vista closes my program

Why is Windows closing my program? gl_icon_tip.png Applies to all editions of Windows Vista.
Which edition of Windows Vista am I using? Windows might close a program and then notify you if it determines that the program is either a security risk or incompatible with this version of Windows.
When Windows closes a program because of a security risk, it is because some programs might use your computer's random access memory (RAM) in a way that could be exploited by a virus and harm your computer. Data Execution Prevention (DEP), a security feature of Windows, tracks how programs use memory. If DEP finds memory being used incorrectly, DEP will close the program and let you know. If you trust the program, you can add it to an exceptions list so that DEP won't close it, but you should first check with the manufacturer of the program to see if there is an updated, DEP-compatible version available.
When Windows closes a program because of compatibility issues, it is because some programs could damage Windows if you try to run them. If Windows notices that an incompatible program might harm your computer (for example, by damaging important system files), Windows will close the program and notify you. Check with the manufacturer of the program to see if an update is available, or check Problem Reports and Solutions in Control Panel to see if a fix from Microsoft is available.
• Open Problem Reports and Solutions by clicking the Start button getopencontent.aspx?assetid=4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33&documentset=en-us&renderkey=xml, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Problem Reports and Solutions.
If this dont fix the problem......... id re-store the computer with the restore cd that came with your computer. Good Luck hope this gets your computer back up and going. Please dont for get to Vote. Thank You.gl_head_str.png
