I Just replaced the toner in my CANON IR1600 PHOTOCOPIER and now have the Error code E100. I put the old one back in to see if it was different but it still said E100. How can I fix this? Thanks

Hi carolyn ,
I am a professional canon service eng . My Name Is D K Kumar . e100 is not related to toner at all . it is the indication that the develper unit has not been detected . remove the left side cover . you will be able to see the top of the develpoer unit. On the left top portion of the developer unit u can see a white coloured accuvator . it is a small white plastic piece ..whhen the side door is closed te white piece should get pressed or should move forward . if the moving action is not happening then the m/c will give u E100 error. in your case the reasons /problem could be :
!) The spring connected to the white plastic accuvator is missing or spring action is not happening.
2) the white accuvator it self is broken or missing.
3) the plastic stick /piece which protudes from the side door and pushes the accuvator is broken.
4)lastly you have not closed the side door properly or not closed at all.
Carolyn if u r able to understand my above tips thn u can do it your self , if not call a your local canon enginer.
best of luck God Bless u

P.S. Carolyn if my solutions have helped u then i request u to kindly reply to me at my enail id: [email protected]

Canon copier iR1600 machine giving code E100

A E100 is the laser shutter is not opening. There is a spring that most likely came off. It is actuated by the door closing. You may have to get a service technician to repair it for you.

Canon ir 1600 my copier print copy image is very poor

Hi there,
iR1600 are special machine that needs a little bit more care.

First, clean the laser unit and optics ( beneath copy glass too ). Then use some polisher and polish the developing cylinder and clean/replace developer cylinder blade.

Use GENUINE CANON DRUM UNIT and GENUINE TONER.

Error E100

The most common cause for E100 is the drum unit. At the rear of the drum unit should be a small peg pointing into the machine. This gets broken off. It's purpose is to opperate a laser cut off shield when the drum is removed so to prevent laser exposure. If peg is missing laser will not be detected by the system and give E100. Can be repaired or will require a new drum if it has done more than 40 to 60K copies.
