Question about Frigidaire FRS3R5EMB Side by Side Refrigerator
My problem also is that freezer is cold but fridge gets warm. When I turn the whole thing off for a sort time it works again.
How would I know which part needs to be replaced to repair this?

Had this same problem. Ice formed on the back of the freezer compartment, but the refriderator area would be about 50 degrees. Checked the fan and defroster timer and everything worked fine. Watched it all defrost and ice build up again. Finally called for service. First guy said he needed to take the unit back to the shop. Second guy said there was an internal leak in the sealed case...couldn't be fixed. Finally realized I had bought an extended warranty (yippee!!) and called the authorized service dealer. Tech came out, said there was a service bulletin whereby the freon line by the evaporator coils was bent a little to extremly and was causing a restriction in the freon...thus the ice build up. He tweaked the line a little and now it has run perfect for 6 months. Would be nice if these bulletins from the factory were posted somewhere...

Thank you Micbeth1981 - well I plugged everything out from the wall plug and let the whole thing defrost overnight (about 6 hours) when I turned it back on in the morning - everything started working as normal - it looked as if the fan in the top left of the refrigerator section had frozen up.....just like you said..... 2 days later and it is going great.... I don't see the ice sheet anymore in the freezer section and the refrigerator is nice and cold now. I set the refrigerator section to 1 more notch than the "factory setting". I am in the tropics so need it cold !!
Next time I will plug everything out and not leave one side working - maybe that was the cause of this whole episode. If it happens again I will take off the back panel and have a look.
But, if the fan stopped like it did - will it not damage the fan motor? I hope not. It's blowing up a storm now and I dont hear any funny noises.

ONE OF FOUR THINGS IS HAPPENING,YOUR FAN IN FREEZER HAS STOPPED,YOUR DEFROST THERMOSTAT IS BAD,YOUR DEFROST HEATER IS BAD,OR THE DEFROST TIMER IS BAD,REMOVE THE FREEZER BACK PANEL AND YOU CAN CHECK ALL BUT THE DEFROST TIMER DEPENDING ON MODEL MOST ARE IN THE FRIG.,LET ME KNOW-MIKE

you have a defrost problem either a bimetal thermostat, defrost timer or a heater. open doors and unplug unit for 2 days to let defrost it will work great for a week or so. not to costly to fix either way
