Question about Fuji FinePix S1000FD Digital Camera

1 Answer

When I take photos with my finepix s1000fd the colours are hardly ever accurate, it will pick out some colours and make them very bright, but the rest of the photo will be a greyish colour. Some photos are fine but not many! Very frustrated. If you could help that would be great.

Hello - You will find this happens mostly in Automatic mode which needs a better spread of light.
The grey background is when another color has been highlighted/increased and the background get saturated out (usually the sky goes grey) or the clouds go white.
Try going into Scenic settings ..ie.. vivid , sunset , soft etc and keep that setting open while taking shots.
or -- Use a Neutral density filter where there are bright and dark spots in frame.
or - Use the aep button to increase a stop before taking a picture..
AND -- get into S or A or Manual mode .
I called Fuji Tech support UK and they admitted the S1000 cameras where 1 stop low on light in the fully auto mode, because it was easier to AD light afterwards in software,

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Consider getting a card reader instead.

I have a brand new Finepix S8100fd camera and the majority of the photos are speckled no matter what setting I use. However the super macro setting rocks and pictures are super clear! My Fuji 7.1 mega

Common issue with the A8100fd. The most likely problem you are having is not enough light. Try shooting in bright sunlight to test the "graininess". Make sure you use the flash anytime the light is not bright. Even though the camera will shoot in low light (without flash), because it defaults to a high ISO setting, which (just like film) accentuates the "grain", or more properly termed in digital photography, "noise". Set the camera for a low ISO setting and use the flash whenever you see the "red hand" symbol on the screen.

Early production versions of the S1000 had this error in the firmware. There is a firmware upgrade that addresses this problem. Here is a link to the upgrade; http://www.fujifilm.ca/x16655.xml
Later versions of the S1000 came from the factory with this version of the firmware, and the colour problems stopped. Customers of mine who have performed the upgrade all report the problems to be rectified.

There is a firmware upgrade to fix the brightness of the captured images when “EVF/LCD mode” is set to “60fps” is darker than that set to “30f/s”.
Please go to the web link here: http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/s1000fd/fupd.html and sign Firmware Upgrade User License Agreement .
