After working alright for a few months, this drive has started reinitilising at random intervals. I typically copy photos from my laptop HDD to external HDD using Windows Explorer when this happens, and the transfer is obviously interupted. (Running Vista on a Dell 1520, 4gb ram). Any solutions? thanks!

Test this out on another computer to see if it does the same thing. If that doesn't work, then send the drive in to Hitachi under warranty because it is failing.

Will try on another comp, thanks for that.

Do you think it would help if I bought an external power source to power this drive up? (its currently powered by the USB).

  • Anonymous Dec 30, 2010

It shouldn't matter, most hard drives are engineered to be powered by USB only.

I am trying to repair a Daewoo DVD Recorder DH-6111P and have need of a replacement hard disk drive 80Gb PATA. I have Seagate drives in stock. How do I prepare one for use in the machine?

hi, in this page show how backup software and very useful for drive replace
http://vladikuz72.narod.ru/DAEWOO_DHR/firmware_backup/how_to_backup.htm6
The major problems are often drive support and getting the drives formatted for use. It typically can't be done using a Windows PC. Some units will auto format the HDD once it is installed (assuming a recognized and supported HDD is used) and others have data stored on the drive which must be moved to the new drive before it can be used. I've never worked with any Daewoo models and aside from Tivo units try to avoid it as it isn't typically worth the headaches.

  1. Plug the HDD from the Daewoo in your PC.
  2. Download this program: https://rapidshare.com/files/2092882716/DMDE.7z2
  3. Open the program and select the appropriate physical drive from Daewoo (Disk Management)
  4. Click: Mode> Hexadecimal. Then click Tools> Copy Sectors
    Start sector: 0
    End sector: 19999
    Destination: Click "File"
And save where you can find it! It's probably 10MB.
  5. Click OK and after done, unplug the HDD
  6. Plugin you're new HDD and in the program click: Drive> Select Drive (you're new HDD)
  7. Again Hexadecimal mode! Look all the way down of the list. Find the number of the last block!
  8. Tools> Fill Sectors:
    Start sector: 0
End sector: That you've searched for
    Hex: 00
    Click OK
THIS MUST BE DONE, OTHERWISE IT WON'T WORK!!!!
  9. Now again Tools> Copy Sectors
By source, select file and open the file you've saved in the beginning.
    Destination: Start sector: 0
    Click OK
  10. You're done!!
Plug the new HDD in you're Daewoo product and if followed the steps.
It will give you the Daewoo boot up logo and immediately it will pop-up say: "Formatting Hard Disk"
I have now a 750GB HDD in my Daewoo!!! :D:D
You have now the OS System (.BIN file) of Daewoo on your computer for future reasons.

I want to copy files from windows 7 to hitachi external hard drive

all you do is right click on the folder or picture you want to move and it will give you the option to copy or cut,cut will remove it from your laptop.so i am taking it you have connected the external hard drive already..if not you will need to attach the external hard drive useing a usb cable from the external hdd to your laptop.
so when you have cut what ever you want to move open your external hdd and right click inside there and and just pick paste that will put it on your external hdd the item you have just cut from your laptop.

My SimpleTech 320GB external hard drive turns off and on randomly

The hard drive has an intermittent problem, the issue lies in the circuit board not the hardware, if the board can be accessed there may be a chance that a soldering iron touch up may solve the problem. But as a rule they are not made to be serviced.

Need to download photos from work laptop what do i need to do

1) Copy to a usb flash drive.
2) Copy/write to CD.
3) Copy/Write to DVD.
4) Copy to portable HDD.

1 and 4 are the easiest. If you haven't got a USB flash drive, get one for at least 4GB. Really handy for file transfer.

Just insert the flash drive in a USB port. Windows should see it. Give it a minute or two for windows to prepare the it should offer you a choice of how to access the drive. Just open it as a folder.

Access the source of your photo's highlight or select all, copy and paste or drag and paste.

Laptop sudden poweroff randomly

I googled "fujitsu laptop forum" and read a couple of posts and it may be an AC input jack problem. If the computer does this without the battery and only AC plugged in then you could assume it's not the battery or charging circiuts. Some laptops get mother board problems but that was not what I read. It wouldn't hurt to go to http://forum.notebookreview.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7 and post your problem. good luck.
