Question about Maytag 24 in. MDB4100 Built-in Dishwasher
Our Maytag4100 fills with water, empties at the end of the cycle and dries just fine. The trouble is that there is no water coming out of the top arm; therefore the dishes are coming out dirty with a white film (presumably soap).
I have verified that the openings on the arm are unobstructed, and since the lower arm dispenses water and the machine empties at the end of the cycle, I assume that the problem is not with the pump. PLEASE advise. Best regards, Don
You should be checking your filter screen and your bottom spray arm for clogs.
Here is a parts diagram which shows all the parts for your model:

Took apart the lower wash arm and the tower and this is where you noticed the water was sitting, but it would not shoot ou of the tower/arm.
Stirred a screw driver in there and didnt really hit much.
Jerked the motor relay and the water inlet valve.
Something might have been clogging the pump
Hope that helps.....

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.
If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...
