Question about Grundfos Comfort System Recirculator 595916

1 Answer

I have a Grundfos Comfort System. At the tap farthest from the hot water tank, I get a tremendous amount of grainy residue from the tap. No other taps have the residu. I've replaced teh water softener, the hot water tank and I added a whole house cartidge water filter. The only thing left is the Grundfos system. Any ideas? .

Sounds like you have sediment built up in the pipes, and maybe the furthest faucet is the gathering place.
Take off each shut-off valve at furthest faucet and connect a water hose that flows into nearby toilet bowl.
You can buy garden-hose-to-1/2-pipe adapter at hardware.
Open water so it flushes the line into toilet bowl.
Then clean out valves and reassemble shut-offs and grundfos connection.
Remove faucet aerator and flush line up to faucet.
Install new aerator.

Can I clean the valve to remove sediment?

when this problem presents I consider that the problem is in the weak tap stopper /seat
they can break down ,become enlarged and not move of the tap seat to allow full flow
that is the first check I would be doing

Cold water from tap is not cold

With circulating system, you wait for cold water to arrive instead of wait for hot to arrive
Turn pump off when you want cold water

After installing the thermo bypass valve on the furthest sink faucet from the water heater, the sink faucet has no pressure, and there is hot water slowly comling out of the cold water valve.

It sounds like the installation loosened sediment inside pipe.
Remove sink aerator and see if you can flush open the faucet.

Also check if other faucets are receiving hot water from hot-and-cold taps that says if grundfos is pumping hot water from the water heater correctly.

When recirculation pump is running, both hot and cold water lines have hot water.
If other faucets have hot water in both lines, then that tells you the blockage is localized in furthest faucet supply lines.
You may have to dissemble those supply lines and flush the sediment out.

My Grundfos Comfort System is not working. I has been installed correctly....the pump is running, I checked and replaced the valve....still no immediate hot water. The installation instructions...

Turn on the hot water at the farthest faucet from the water heater. Once hot water is at that sink immediately go check other taps in the home. If you have to wait more then 10 seconds for hot water at other taps then you have a branched system.

Pump gets very hot. Water not

That would be my guess. If water is not circulating then that points to impeller problem

Now I have to wait for cold water at my taps

Yep! That is the problem with this type system!

To fix the problem run a third pipe from where the pump is back to tee into the cold input of the HW tank. Insulate this third line.

It will be more efficient as well.
