Hello there,

Was skype pre-installed in your Samsung Galaxy before? Because if yes, then you might have to wait until Skype supports your phone again. You have similar problems to a lot of users having the Samsung Galaxy ( you can check out this site: http://forum.skype.com/index.php?showtopic=782525).

The download link is used to be found here: http://www.skype.com/m however, until now, Skype has not given back support to some tablet PCs like the Samsung Galaxy.

Should you need furthe assistance, please let me know. Thank you for using FixYa.

Happy New Year!

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

I just brought a he Sharper Image M18A" Tablet. Can anyone tell me if you can use Skype - as in see the other person. I know it's to do with the cameras on the tablet but when I brought this I wa

If you don't see the person you are chatting with on Skype, the issue is probably on their hardware. You do need to "Enable Video Call" from the Skype app's Menu after initiating a video call. If you aren't seen on the other party's side of the call, then it's your device settings that must be adjusted.

Does your tablet have a front-facing camera and Android version 2.3 or better? (The M18A is listed as having Android 4.0) If so, then you should be able to video chat with the Skype app. When you use the rear-facing camera, obviously there are issues with the other party seeing you.

If you have a front-facing camera, make sure that this is the default camera while the Skype app is closed. Open the default camera app and tap the icon to toggle the front camera interface (if needed). Then switch to video mode. Return to the home screen and open the Skype app. Login and start a video call. Then press Menu (in the app) and "Enable Video Call".

If this doesn't work, you may need the IP Webcam app. This is available at the Play Store. After setting the default camera, set the resolution and the frame capture rate, among other settings. Next, follow the directions for using Skype for a video call.

I hope this helps.

Hi. My samsung tab doesnt accept skype video call. I have samsung galaxy 1000. I am live in Serbia. Thank you

Make sure that you are using the most recent firmware version. If you have the 7" Galaxy Tab, then 2.3 would be the most recent version. If it's the new 10" version then Honeycomb 3.1 would be the newest. The firmware update fixes some of the issues with Skype.

Also make sure that your version of Skype is the most recent from the marketplace.

You should be downloading the application from the Android market. It may not be the application, but the tablet that will not allow video capabilities. Try to re-install Skype then restart your tablet.

Im on skype but no active visual just a frozen picture

Were you aware that the Skype app for Android doesn't do video calling as yet? If you are trying to do a video call, that would be why it is not working.
If the whole app appears as a frozen image it has probably crashed. Try pressing the home button to quit out and then kill the app and try again. If it still happens, try uninstalling and reinstalling.
Hope this helps, Alistair
